I am highly amused these days as Christian right leaders who have for decades argued that personal morality is the key to deciding for whom to vote suddenly declaring that they must vote for the deeply immoral Donald Trump. David Barton even listed the Biblical standards that Trump clearly fails:
And we have yet another way that Eric Metaxas is copying fake historian and professional liar David Barton, by using fake quotes from dead people and then refusing to correct them when shown that they were fake. You have learned well, young padawan.
David Barton, who ran Ted Cruz’ Super PAC during the primaries and is a member of the RNC’s platform committee, says that Donald Trump did not interfere with the writing of this year’s platform, which is so conservative that it’s identical to what Cruz would have wanted.
Gloomy Glenn Beck is back again. It’s too late, the die is cast, nothing but doom awaits, as he predicted (he predicts everything, of course). So it’s time for all good “patriots” to pack up their stuff and move to Texas before they close the northern border.
The Republican party is writing its platform for the 2016 national convention and, as with so many other issues, their plank on energy and environment is wildly out of touch with reality. It actually declares coal — the single dirtiest form of energy production — to be a clean source of energy.
Evangelical Christian historian John Fee has joined Warren Throckmorton and a couple others in strongly criticizing the lies and distortions in Eric Metaxas’ new book, which is pretty much straight out of the David Barton propaganda playbook. He points out some of Metaxas’ rather obvious contradictions.
Eric Metaxas is a rising star on the Christian right, but like his apparent role model David Barton, he has a serious problem with lying. Warren Throckmorton cites another example from his new book If You Can Keep It. He offers this excerpt from the book
David Barton was asked by a caller on his radio show how he could support Donald Trump for president given his track record. Barton made the rather bizarre argument that Trump is “God’s candidate” because a lot of Christians participated in the primaries and he won.
Warren Throckmorton has been going through and critiquing a new book by Eric Metaxas and it is clear that Metaxas is every bit as shameless a liar as David Barton. Here’s yet another example as he tries to make George Whitefield, the force behind the Great Awakening in the mid-1700s, into a leader in racial equality.
