Wesley Goodman, a Republican member of the Ohio Legislature, resigned this week after it was revealed that he had a long history of having trysts, welcome and unwelcome, with teenage boys. The Washington Post has emails that show Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, knew about this and did nothing to blow the whistle on Goodman even as he got elected to office.
We are forever being told that natural disasters are deliberately sent by God to signal his anger and disapproval of our behavior. One of the people who makes that claim continually is Tony Perkins. And God just destroyed his house with the flooding down in Louisiana.

While discussing the prisoner swap with Iran, he actually said — I kid you not — that Ronald Reagan would never have negotiated with Iran to get hostages back. Can he really be that fucking clueless?
We have a new variation on the inane argument that Islam is not a religion because it’s really about political power, an argument so astonishingly hypocritical coming from the Christian right that it boggles the mind. Tony Perkins apparently wants to make this argument so authoritative, so he has derived a quantitative measurement of the religious nature of Islam from his rectal cavity:
Tony Perkins is a salesman. What he’s selling is the highly dishonest narrative that President Obama cares only about gay rights and spends all his time working on it rather than, say, attacking ISIS. That’s why he ignores the plight of Christians and children being brutalized by them.
Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council is desperate to convince his followers that they’re still going to win on marriage equality, so much so that he just flat out lies about what the polling data shows. Here he is talking about a recent poll on the matter:
On an appearance on CBS News last weekend, Bob Schieffer accurately described Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council as the leader of a hate group. The Christian right is flipping out about that, of course, and Franklin Graham has leaped to his defense:
Tony Perkins went on CBS on Sunday morning and flat out lied about wanting the Supreme Court justices to be impeached if they vote to strike down state bans on same-sex marriage. He said so just last week, but on national television he just plain lied about it:
A Senate committee held a hearing this week on religious freedom around the world and they invited a Who’s Who of Christian right leaders to deliver testimony. Tony Perkins argued that Obama’s opposition to the Hobby Lobby case leads to beheading of Christians abroad. Seriously.
