I wrote recently about Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council covering up the fact that Wes Goodman was a gay man who trolled for young boys despite being a hardcore “family values” advocate in public (and, presumably, lied to his wife about it all). A lot more has come out since then. The Independent Journal Review says that it goes way beyond Perkins, that at least 30 other people in the Christian right knew about it and didn’t say a word in public.
A two-star general was fired by the Pentagon after he was found to have sent inappropriate text messages to the wife of another Army officer. And the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins knows who’s really to blame: Gay people. Of course.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: A wingnut says that this is the most important election ever and that if their candidate doesn’t win, America is done, destroyed, deceased, it will have shuffled off this mortal coil, it will be an ex-country. It’s Tony Perkins turn this time.
Deranged bigot and hate group leader Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council welcomed fellow bigot and retired Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin on his radio show and said that he would rather disband the American military completely rather than allow trans people in.
You gotta hand it to the Christian right. They continually come up with new and ever more ridiculous claims of faux persecution. Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council told a radio audience that Christians are being forced into “spiritual ghettos.” Whatever the hell that nonsensical phrase could possibly mean.
Tony Perkins loves to scare people. What choice does he have? You keep the money coming in by scaring people and convincing them that you’ll protect them from the big bad boogeyman — in this case, Obama. Oh, and trans people. He says Obama is deliberately trying to destroy Christianity with his directive on trans bathroom use.
History has established quite plainly that Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council will make any argument, no matter how dishonest or hypocritical, that supports whatever position he’s taking at the time. Here’s a new example, a ridiculous and hypocritical theory he has about Judge Merrick Garland.
It’s always amusing to hear conservatives rail against the evils of anti-discrimination laws protecting LGBT people with arguments that are actually in opposition to all anti-discrimination laws, then try to find ways to wiggle out of the dilemma they create for themselves. Tony Perkins, for example:

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council is joining Glenn Beck in campaigning for Ted Cruz and, like Beck, he’s trying to scare the little children of the Christian right with spook stories. If we don’t elect Cruz, he says, this may be the last election America ever has! Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.
Tony Perkins delivered his “state of the family” address on Monday night. As I predicted, no mention at all of all those families led by gay people. Because those aren’t real families, you see, they’re fake families. But the speech was full of the usual blather about religious freedom being the most important thing in the world — as long as it applies only to Christians.
