Glenn Beck is putting on a full court press to get Rep. Louis Gohmert to run against Sen. John Cornyn in next year’s Republican primary, interviewing him and telling him that God himself told him that Gohmert would not need to worry about raising money for the campaign. Cuz he prayed and stuff. He says he hopes that God tells him to run, just as God told Beck that he wants him to run. So if he doesn’t, does that mean God told them two different things? Or that one or both of them isn’t really talking to God at all? Or, here’s an idea, are they just talking to themselves?

Glenn Beck has made up his mind. He’s going to do everything it takes to get Rep. Louis Gohmert, an astonishingly stupid man, to mount a primary challenge to Sen. John Cornyn. “I am going to camp outside of Louie Gohmert’s house if I have to, and I mean it. I am going to be Louie Gohmert’s worst nightmare until he says ‘yes, I’m going to run for Senate.'” Cornyn was rated the 2nd most conservative senator in 2012, but even that isn’t far right enough for Beck.

Glenn Beck’s The Blaze website has an article about the Ron Paul Curriculum, which promises to teach homeschooling parents and students “get an education in liberty like no other.” Given that the curriculum is being developed by Gary North, the nation’s leading Christian Reconstructionist, you can be sure that “liberty” is being defined in an Orwellian manner.

I wrote recently about Glenn Beck’s ridiculous interview in which he did his best Rodney King impersonation, saying, “Can we stop dividing ourselves? Do racists exist? Yes. Do bigots exist? Yes. But most of us are not. Most Americans just want to get along. Why can’t we do that? What has happened to us?” GLAAD points out, as I did, that Beck is responsible for a lot of those divisions, especially when it comes to LGBT issues.

It’s wingnut on wingnut crime time again, kids. This time it’s Charisma magazine, specifically author Ron Cantor, taking on Glenn Beck over the latter’s goofy claim that the pilgrims were the descendants of the true lost tribes of Israel. And goofy it certainly is.

For the third time, Right Wing Watch has caught a contradiction between what is said on Glenn Beck’s TV show and what it says on his website. This time it came from David Barton, who guest hosted for Beck and repeated this suddenly popular new meme on the right that the Common Core standards will allow kids to say that 3×4 = 11. A dishonestly edited video is rocketing around the right wing blogosphere on this and Barton is pushing it as hard as he can. But Beck’s own website has already debunked this:

I can’t tell if this is just a ploy for attention or if Glenn Beck really is stupid and extreme enough to think that recycling is actually a bad thing. After an employee put recycling bins and replaced individual water bottles with a water cooler, he now says he’ll fire anyone who does anything that might be good for the environment. Even if you think global warming is a hoax, if you think we should actually go out of your way to create more pollution than necessary, you’re just an asshole.

I’ve lost track of all the various groups who claim to be descended from the real lost tribes of Israel. They settled in Persia or Saudi Arabia or Ethiopia, depending on who you’re talking to. Some even claim it’s the Japanese. But Glenn Beck says they went to Europe, created Western Civilization (all based on the Torah, of course) and then came to America as the Puritans. Historians will find this one just plain laughable.

Right Wing Watch catches Glenn Beck once again making a claim on his radio show that his own website, The Blaze, debunked months ago. He claims that the Army gave Nidal Hassan a promotion while he was in jail for killing people at a military base. But his own website said back in March that this claim from a parody site:

As I’ve noted before, the far right’s now-constant predictions of an impending war between the citizens and the government have their roots in white supremacy. Glenn Beck ditches the euphemisms and goes right for it, claiming that Obama is sowing the seeds of the coming race war. This is standard KKK and Aryan Nation rhetoric.

I’ll give Glenn Beck credit for at least trying to engage the substance of Reza Aslan’s book about Jesus, but it’s kind of funny watching him attempt it. His arguments are just plain bad. He cites the beginning of the book of Luke as proof that the gospels were eyewitness accounts, but the very verses he cites say the opposite. He can’t even read the words on the screen correctly, saying the opposite of what Aslan says and adding words to it.

Uh oh. It appears that Michele Bachmann has lost favor with Glenn Beck because she not only voted against an amendment that would have defunded the NSA, she argued that those concerned about NSA data mining and illegal spying are completely wrong.
