Republican morals?

It wasn’t too long ago that this country experienced the so-called “Republican Revolution” and Americans were told by those like Newt Gingrich that their newly elected officials would be as “pure as the driven snow”.

It wasn’t too long ago that this country experienced the so-called “Republican Revolution” and Americans were told by those like Newt Gingrich that there newly elected officials would be as “pure as the driven snow”.

Today we see where the “revolution” has taken us. We now have a Republican congress that rubber stamps a Republican president’s out of control spending. We have republican members of congress embroiled in scandals of all sorts. Why watch cable television when we can just follow national network news and take in reports about Republicans mired down in everything from fraud to sex chat with minors? It seems that Republican controlled Washington D.C. has much more racey content than television these days!

The worst unfolding scene of the entire drama has been George Bush’s handling of Iraq. He has told us time after time to “stay the course”, but has failed to provide Americans with a moral imperative that demands we should continue to watch our service men and women die in a war that has nothing to do with the “war on terror” other than it is a war creating more terrorists.

Now is the time for strong Democrats to step forward and talk about real liberal values. There is no question that God has made this nation great, but how long will we tolerate the party that was supposed to make government “pure” to represent the values of Democrats? There is no question in my mind that God is not a politician! He is neither Republican, or Democrat. However, my Bible tells me that God is on the side of the meek and the peace makers. He is on the side of those who would try to make the world a place of hope. I am certain that Democrats of faith should drive that message home to all those who are willing to listen to real values and not the fabrications fed to us by the Republicans.
