Yesterday, Leonard Sweet kindly invited me to speak to his doctoral students about the New Testament story. It was a pleasurable time. More on that in the future.
Speaking of which, last month, I made a statement in one of my talks. The statement was: “You can’t be transformed through Scripture if you don’t understand it.”
A sister in Christ responded saying, “This explains why I could read the Bible through several times in the past and not come away with anything but disconnected stories and rules.”
“‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ The man replied, ‘How can I, unless someone instructs me?’”(Acts 8:30-31)
This is precisely why I wrote the new book – THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH: REVISED AND EXPANDED (2025 edition) which is still only 99 cents in digital in most countries.
In fact, thanks to so many of you, the book is currently the #1 title in Spiritual Growth on Amazon.
As I’ve stated many times, this is NOT a history book. It’s rather a book for spiritual growth because it uniquely and powerfully unlocks the New Testament, the chief means by which God transforms us and others.
If you’re reading the book, and it’s shedding light on your reading of the New Testament, the objective, let me know.
Again, we cannot be transformed by God’s written word if we don’t understand it.
