DISCUSSION: Easter

DISCUSSION: Easter

This is the place to record Easter memories, Easter reflections, Easter joys, and anything else Easter.

Is anyone still doing sunrise services–at sunrise?  I remember when I was a kid getting up super early, while it was still dark, and going to the service held outside in a park, just as the sun was rising.  I was sleepy and cold, but also excited and inspired.

Is your church really full on Easter Sunday?  I remember that when I was young, but haven’t noticed it so much anymore.  Is the phenomenon of “Christmas and Easter” members a thing of the past, since nominal believers have pretty much become Nones?

Does anyone talk about the Easter Bunny as being real to young children?  My impression is that no children take that seriously any more, or maybe they never did.   I grew up with Santa Claus, but the Easter Bunny was just a funny joke about where the Easter candy came from, no more real than Bugs Bunny.

Do you have any family or personal traditions or customs that you’d like to share?
