“But when they cried out to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer.” -Judges 3:9
In Judges, when the people cried out for help to the Lord, “He raised up for them a deliverer.” Repeatedly, the book reveals the cycle of rebellion, repentance, and redemption provided by God. Does the Lord still operate this way today?
To some degree, the case can be made that nations that follow God are blessed by him. When they rebel, nations fade and can be rescued upon repenting. But in our time, God has sent Jesus as the redemption for the sins of us all. It is made available to every person, yet must be applied individually. You and I must each repent and receive the redemption Jesus offers.
When we do, we become part of a new community called the church that live on this planet with God’s Spirit within us. And when enough of us in a town or state or even a nation work together in this way, nations are changed. From Brazil to Kenya to the United States of America, nations are transformed when people who love and serve Jesus come together to live according to his ways.
Let us be among those God has redeemed who live for his fame.
