Here’s a ministry more people should become familiar with. They focus on doing theological education internationally. They’re called Training Leaders International. Here’s their own self introduction:
Throughout the world there are millions of pastors who are doing the difficult work of leading the church with little or no sound theological training.
Training Leaders International is meeting this need in three ways.
We send short-term teams to provide theological education.
Our short-term trips partner with a variety of ministries around the world. Some groups teach modular classes in Bible Colleges or Seminaries. Others work through TLI’s curriculum for pastors who cannot access formal education, either because none is available or because they are already serving on the field. This curriculum is geared to meeting with a group of pastors three times a year over a three or four-year period with an emphasis on Hermeneutics, Biblical Theology, the Attributes of God and Expository Preaching. Our teaching teams are made up of pastors, seminary professors and advanced graduate students. We put a premium on preparation and discipling the people we send!
We serve as a sending agency for those interested in teaching overseas.
We send people to teach in formal and informal education settings. Those we send are taken through a process to help prepare them for teaching in a different culture and are cared for by mentors in the US and abroad.
We start schools in places where formal education is lacking.
The schools that we help start are either stand-alone institutions or within local churches that are committed to academic excellence and hands on mentoring. All of our schools are started in conjunction with local church leaders and missionaries on the field.
