Ephesians 4.20-21: But that is not the way you learned Christ! – assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, (ESV) i. Paul draws a couple lines in the sand Paul draws the first line in the sand between the Christian Gentiles and pagan Gentiles.  Christian renewal stands in contrast to all the wicked ways of the Gentiles.[1] The word “you” sets us apart as the readers.  Any time there’s a “we,” then there is by... Read more

Thanks for joining me again this week.  I’ve been trying the YouTube Live function to set up some of my vlogs.  It worked fairly well last week, but this week I’m going to be trying something a little bit different.  There’s a lot that’s happened, especially with my sons, the Ingle Brothers. There are 3 videos that I’ll be adding to this vlog.  The first 2 are from our General Convention.  It is our Centennial celebration, so we are actually... Read more

Ephesians 4.17: Now this I affirm and insist on in the Lord: you must no longer live as the Gentiles live, in the futility of their minds. We tend to look at passages like this, analyze them, and preach and teach them based on our understanding.  We often preach about processes of personal maturity or integrity.  People just need to become what they believe.  However, this passage is not so easily understood, if we take into account the life and times... Read more

God, I’m so appreciative of men like John Wesley that we can point back to, and there are many others that I’ve looked at this last couple weeks. Jesus, they are people who have implemented things like this that we’re talking about right here, and they’ve transformed society. In our prayer series, we’re going to look at the thoughts of John Wesley in relation to Ephesians 4.11-12.[1] And “he gave” the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,... Read more

One of the easiest tools for free marketing is Facebook (FB).  As an Evangelical Columnist for Patheos, I’ve received coaching on how to utilize a Facebook Page for my writings.  I’ve also found some other good coaches online.  I’m not making a living at it, but I’ve been honored to assist as a couple of congregations develop their FB Pages and online presence as well. My wife and I chose to launch it as JCIngle, and eventually we launched our... Read more

I picked up a Spirituality & Health magazine in the waiting room of 14th Street Chiropractic, as I have before.[1] The publication is always a little interesting to me because of the interreligious dialogue. I’m calling it interreligious dialogue, not interfaith, the latter remaining within the bounds of the Christian communion.  I may be defining the terms this way because I am more attached to the historical definitions than all of the current variants. When I looked at the table... Read more

When I was young it was common for people to commit and make a life decision, based primarily on a presentation of a Christian belief system.  Phil called it a conversion experience.  That belief decision would lead us into a community of believers where we could develop a sense of belonging.  Now it is the opposite.  Belonging is the priority. I’ve had the privilege of a couple conversations with Phil Ellis, Ph.D.  He’s a Fully Licensed Psychologist, and interestingly, a... Read more

Once again, I’m focusing on updating my Patheos blog.  I’m offering a few tips along the way, since I’ve studied some of the greats.  Right now, I’m listening to David Boozer and Melyssa Griffin for some good advice, although I’m definitely not a guru like them.  They’ve both been in the game a long time.  I appreciate their good sense and candor, but I’ve always appreciated David for his unashamed Christian faith as well.  I’ll offer some tips below that... Read more

New Initiative | New Services Offered | New About Page FYI: I have the opportunity to launch a new initiative.  In a way, it is in a softlaunch mode because I am releasing the news in stages.  This year I have become a Limited License Marriage and Family Therapist in Michigan (under supervision).  To bring all of the ministries that I am involved with under one umbrella, my wife Crystal and I have also launched a nonprofit named JC Ingle,... Read more

Belief without relationship is only head knowledge. That’s one of the major points of this story. Relationship without belief has no anchor. We continue our prayer series with this prayer from this week.[1] One of the things that’s unique about this prayer is that I get to prepare our hearts for communion.  I’m preaching from Mark 8, Peter’s confession of Christ, so these are some closing thoughts. If you enjoy the blog, but you’re the type of person who likes... Read more
