Good Evening, My name is Rev. Dr. Jeff Hood. I’m not here to dialogue with you. I’m not here to talk about policy or provide recommendations. I’m here to see if you have soul. We keep on getting video after video after video out of Fort Worth, Texas…giving this town that is often called “Cowtown” evidence of why such a name is appropriate…because y’all treat people like animals. A CLOSED FIST! A CLOSED FIST! A CLOSED FIST! Imagine if one of your children got drunk and was subdued on the ground… Particularly my white brothers and sisters… Imagine if it was your child (at college…first time being drunk)… A CLOSED FIST! OVER AND OVER AND OVER! You see we are no longer at a place for dialogue. We are at a place to check the pulse of this city council! We are at a place were we want to hear from you! Do you care?!? DO YOU CARE?!? How in the world could I bring my children without fearing a serious altercation with the police? Who wants to go to a place where they get a hashtag next to their name for entering? This is not a time for dialogue. This is a time for doing. This is a time for being. How many more videos are we going to have to see? MAYOR?!? How many more videos are we going to have to see? Every time I hear you speak on the television…it is a statement of moderation. I need you to step. I need for my family to feel comfortable in this city. I need for y’all to understand…I was at the front of the line…I organized that protest on July 7…I saw the shots…I saw what happens when a city refuses to address police brutality. That is what happens! I am here to offer you a warning…a warning… If this continues… You cannot expect a population to get pummeled with violence over and over again without responding violently. This is your warning.

Amen.
