Angels Meeting with God in Heaven

Today, the U.S. government released the report of its exhaustive investigation of UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects), now called UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena), and it denies the existence of “extraterrestrial” intelligent life. This report dates back to U.S. government involvement in trying to identify UFOs since the late 1940s. The word “extraterrestrial” is generally understood as physical life originating in this universe from somewhere other than planet Earth. That’s how “aliens” are usually understood.

I have blogged a lot about this subject, including a ten-part series that begins, “The Most Renowned UFO Incidents (Part 1 of 10).” It’s because I’ve been interested in UFOs since I was teenager due to one of my uncles, a church pastor, having been a spokesperson of sorts who claimed he had many UFO experiences with aliens. He even wrote a book about it, and the tabloids published some interviews with him about it.

This government report released today is from the Defense Department’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). It says there is “no evidence that any [U.S. government] investigation, academic-sponsored research, or official review panel has confirmed that any sighting of a UAP represented extraterrestrial technology.” I accept this statement as true. During all of the U.S. government’s past investigations of this phenomena, I do not believe it has been covering up information it has about actual alien life that originated from elsewhere in our universe, thus extraterrestrial life.

However, I certainly do believe the U.S. government has in the past done much covering up about UFO/UAP sightings. And why is that? They did it for various reasons. Mostly, they didn’t know what it was and they didn’t want to admit they didn’t know, which was arrogance. Another reason was that they believed if they revealed everything about their investigations, and they had to admit that, concerning the best cases, they didn’t know what it was, they thought that would unnecessarily frighten the public and cause panic. I think that was a miscalculation on their part. By covering up, they just made it worse, causing much of the public to not trust the government. And there was the Cold War. But other governments, including the USSR, has the same problem.

This AARO report also explains, “A consistent theme in popular culture involves a particularly persistent narrative that the [U.S. government] — or a secretive organization within it — recovered several off-world spacecraft and extraterrestrial biological remains … and that it has conspired since the 1940s to keep this effort hidden from the United States Congress and the American public.” I agree with AARO’s conclusion about this, that it is not true.

The U.S. government, mostly branches of the Department of Defense, especially the Air Force, has always been the main organization doing these UFO/UAP investigations. And their main concern was whether these phenomena were a threat to public safety. So much of the time they concluded there was no such threat and thus dismissed this phenomena as unworthy of serious investigation. But that has never satisfied the American public since many of the best sightings have never seemed to have a good, physical explanation.

Indeed, I believe there have been many UFO/UAP sightings that do not have a satisfactory, physical explanation. Most do, but some don’t. I am a Christian who believes in the Bible. The Bible has many narratives about angels, including angels coming from heaven to earth and interacting with by actually appearing to, even sometimes speaking to, human beings. Ask most Christians about angels and they will tell you that they believe in their existence as well. And it is not only Bible believers who have believed in the existence of angels. There are, and have been, many other religions that have affirmed the existence of otherworldly angels.

But what or who are angels? It is quite obvious from the many biblical narratives about angels that they are NOT extraterrestrial beings. Rather, the Bible is quite clear about this, that angels are “spirit” beings. That, of course, is not something our government has been considering as an explanation for UFO/UAP sightings. The government tries to stay clear of religion. I believe that has been another mistake our government has made, especially in trying to understand its enemies, such as radical, Islamic terrorists.

Do you know that the Bible reveals angels have a profound interest in humans? It says of God’s angels, “Are not all angels spirits in the divine service, sent to serve for the sake of those [humans] who are to inherit salvation” (Hebrews 1.14). And the apostle Peter wrote that these are “things into which angels long to look!” (1 Peter 1.12). That is, angels are interested in what God is doing with his creation of the universe, most particularly human beings on earth. Therefore, I believe that some of the best cases of these UFO/AUPs likely are the result of angels. See my blog post, “UFOs Are Angels.”
