Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, shortly before his interrogation and condemnation by the Sanhedrin and subsequent crucifixion by the Romans. We read in the Gospel of Mark in the New Testament (NT) about Jesus’ imminent arrest, “Judas, one of the twelve, arrived; and with him there was a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders” (Mark 14.43 NRSV). The Gospel of Mark then includes a peculiar detail about Jesus’ arrest... Read more

I am in the process of making my first book, The Gospel (Victor Books, 1987), into an audio book. It is a single narrative harmony of the four New Testament gospels in the New International Version of the Bible, which is produced by Zondervan. BTW, my friend evangelist Billy Graham endorsed it by saying, “It may well become a classic.” The first three NT gospels are called “synoptics” because they record many of the same acts and sayings of Jesus.... Read more

I blogged about the Trump presidency over 300 times while it was happening. In many of those posts, I quoted from the Bible’s wisdom literature and sayings of Jesus, applying them to President Trump. The main one was, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18). I then strung more than half of those posts together to form most of my book, Bible Predicts Trump Fall. I’ve never been that much of a political person.... Read more

A mint condition, 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle baseball card just sold at Heritage Auction for a whopping $12.6 million, the highest amount ever of any sports card. The originally sold for either one penny or one nickel. Not a bad ROI–Return On Investment. Chris Ivy, the director of the auction, said, “We always knew this card would shatter records and expectations.” I’d like to hear what Mickey Mantle would say if he knew one of his baseball cards sold for... Read more

Just minutes ago, the PGA Tour capped off its exciting season this year with two of its best players, and good friends, playing in the last twosome and battling it out down the stretch. Crowd-favorite and four time major winner Rory McIlroy came from six strokes behind to defeat leader Scottie Scheffler by one stroke to win both the season-ending Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup at East Lake in Atlanta, Georgia. In doing so, the Irishman became the only player... Read more

Former Attorney General William Barr was Donald Trump’s most influential sycophant in the Trump presidential orbit. Loyal Barr constantly defended several of President Trump’s seemingly law-breaking actions. Barr only began to turn against him late in his presidency. It began with Barr criticizing Trump for tweeting so much. The president was well known for using his Twitter account about a dozen times per day, often like a wrecking ball to defend himself by lashing out at his critics. Then,... Read more

I thought something like this was going down. On the eve of the PGA Tour’s season-ending third and final leg of its FedEx Cup Playoffs today–the Tour Championship at Atlanta’s East Lake–Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan announced some major Tour changes for next year. The highlight is that they will create sort of a Tour-within-a-Tour. That is, eight tournaments presently on next season’s schedule will have an “elevated” status in which its purses will be raised to $15-20 million each, with... Read more

The U.S. government has made a major change about its investigation of UFOs, meaning Unidentified Flying Objects. A few years ago, the Pentagon renamed UFOs Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP). Now, the Pentagon has abandoned that term to try to fit all of the UFO evidence into the term Unidentified Aerospace-Undersea Phenomena (UAUP). The reason is that some UFO sightings–which the Pentagon acknowledges are legitimate phenomena that cannot be explained as natural occurrences and cannot possibly be man-made–involve quick descent and... Read more

Seventy-nine year old Tom Weiskopf died yesterday after suffering a two-year bout with pancreatic cancer. Tall and handsome, Weiskopf excelled as both a player on the PGA Tour and a golf course designer in his post-Tour life. Tom Weiskopf won 16 tournaments on the PGA Tour. He won one of the four major championships in pro golf–the 1973 (British) Open. His most frustrating tournament was the Masters, where he finished second four times. That golf course fit his game. Tom... Read more

Defending champion Patrick Cantlay won the BMW Championship today in Wilmington, Delaware, by one stroke over Scott Stallings. The leaders were jockeying for position that back nine until Cantlay broke loose with a birdie-par finish for a two-under par 69 and a 72-hole total of 268. Once again, the PGA Tour provided  more excitement than the competing LIV Golf series. Scottie Scheffler’s third place finish makes him the leader with a two stroke advantage in the FedEx Cup going into... Read more
