Norwegian Victor Hovland won the PGA Tour’s Hero World Challenge by one stroke today over Scottie Scheffler at the Albany Golf Course in Albany, Bahamas. Hovland is on a hot streak, since it was his third title in his last twelve PGA Tour tournaments. Yet surprisingly, he still has not won such a title on the U.S. mainland. Hovland plays steady game, usually being a clutch player at crunch time, that is, when he’s in contention in the closing holes... Read more

Jeff Deuble is the author of the recent book, Christ Before Creeds: Rediscovering the Jesus of History. It is a 176-page book about Jesus’ identity published by Living Hope International Ministries in 2021. I don’t know Jeff personally. I was asked to read and blurb his book because of its similarity to my book, The Restitution of Jesus Christ (2008). I am happy to oblige. Jeff was a pastor for many years in the Churches of Christ denomination in Australia.... Read more

For a long time, I’ve believed in man-made global warming and thus been interested in the need for the world to convert from burning fossil fuels to using renewable energy, such as especially solar panels and wind turbines. It is a slow process to make this transition, but it was speeded up the past few days when nations met from the world over in Scotland at COP26. This acronym refers to the United Nations’ 26th Climate... Read more

In recent years, there has been much print about, What is an Evangelical? It’s largely because Donald Trump became president partly due to his large political support from evangelicals. That was quite ironical since Trump seemed to be anything other than a Christian or an evangelical. I believe that Trump has used evangelicals for his political purpose. And one way he did it was to choose the very evangelical Mike Pence as his vice president. About 25% of all adult... Read more

Just minutes ago, Jason Kokrak won the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas, by three strokes for his third win on the PGA Tour. He came from ten strokes behind halfway in the tournament, thus after 36 holes. He caught fire the back nine today, birdying four holes in succession to overtake leader Scottie Scheffler, who bogeyed holes 10, 11, and 14. Scheffler tied for second with Kevin Tway, son of PGA Championship... Read more

Viktor Hovland–a twenty-four year old Norwegian and graduate of Oklahoma State University–just shot 67 for a 23-under par total of 261 to win by four strokes over Carlos Ortiz the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. It was Hovland’s third win on the PGA Tour. Justin Thomas finished one stroke back of Ortiz for third place.   The Atlanta Braves just beat the Houston Astros to win the World Series in Major League Baseball (MLB). But America’s National Pasttime is taking heat for taking too long to play the game. During the regular season, games are taking an average of 3 hours and 10 minutes to play. But in these post-season playoffs games, some of them lasted over 4 hours. Yet, back in the 1980s, regular season games averaged 2 hours and 33 minutes, which is... Read more

Yesterday, Israel’s Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and his administration began plans to build more than 3,000 additional units in 25 of the 130 Jewish settlements in the West Bank in further defiance of international law of settling its own people in what the United Nations, of which Israel is a member, deems “occupied territory.” Most non-Israeli authorities who have been involved in trying to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict agree with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas that such further Jewish settlement... Read more

Today, the editorial board of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper responded to the Republican Party’s refusal to support the subpoena of ex-President Trump’s advisor Steve Bannon issued by the House select committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot. Bannon has refused to appear before the committee to testify, saying Trump told him not to by claiming executive privilege. The Democrat-controlled House voted on whether or not to charge Mr. Bannon with “criminal contempt” for refusing to oblige to this congressional... Read more

Tragedy struck a Hollywood film set this week that involved leading actor Alec Baldwin. This low-budget, Western movie titled “Rust” was being filmed near Santa Fe, New Mexico, on a ranch. At about 1:00 PM last Thursday, Mr. Baldwin fired a supposed blank from a pistol that he drew from his holster, but instead a bullet discharged from it and fatally struck cimatographer Halyna Hutchins. The projectile then passed through her chest and struck film director Joel Souza who was... Read more
