This is a series looking at the marriage advice given in Nancy Campbellβs book βHow to Encourage Your Husbandβ.
While packing for a move I have turned up are books, terrible idiotic books filled with toxic advice. One of those books is by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies βHow to Encourage Your Husbandβ. I think I ended up with this book in the aftermath of leaving my old church, given to me by one of my former friends that thought it would βhelpβ my marriage since in her eyes my husband leaving our old church meant that I wasnβt doing my job of wife well enough. Reading through this book now I cannot help but laugh at some of the suggestions. The book is entirely written by commenters and comments from Nancy Campbellβs website.
Each week weβre going to look at a new nugget of marriage advice given by one of Nancyβs sycophants. Discuss.
I respect you!
When my husband came to me and told me I never built him up, I thought, βThatβs impossible! I think those things all the time!β And I did; only I didnβt verbalize them. I decided to verbalize my thoughts, βI respect you so much forβ¦.β Or βGod must be so pleased with you for your obedience toβ¦.β Of course, there are the little, seemingly silly things, βYou are so strong!β Or, βYou can fix anything.β Watch him grin when you say those things.
Are men so emotionally weak that they must be constantly reminded of how much we respect them?
