Lori Alexander of The Transformed Wife is on a Dr. Spock childcare advice rampage, claiming that his advice that spanking merely teaches violence and is largely unnecessary and cruel is awful. At least Dr. Spockβs childcare and discipline advice does not have a body count, unlike Michael and Debi Pearlβs advice. Sheβs claiming that beating your children is always the best discipline.
Lori falsely claims itβs perfectly legal in all 50 states. Hold on there Ms. Factsβ¦ thatβs only because there is no nationwide federal law prohibiting it. 31 states and the District of Columbia do ban physical punishment in the school room and there are states where the Pearls beat them with a 1/4 inch plumbing line is considered child abuse. Delawareβs law states that the punishment cannot cause pain or injury of any type. Sounds like a spanking prohibition from here. As per usual Lori only mentions βfactsβ that line up with her harsh legalistic viewpoint, choosing to ignore everything else.
There are so many better ways to insure compliance, cooperation and self-control that do not involve intentionally inflicting physical pain on a child.
Boy, for people that claim to love children theyβre in an awful hurry to cause children pain.
