Husbands Must Discipline Wives?

Husbands Must Discipline Wives?

This is from Lori Alexander’s old blog Always Learning. We’ve shared part of this post ages ago. Remember when Lori told the story of the lady who would always put knifes in the dishwasher against the wishes of her husband? When the dishwasher broke this woman’s husband decided to discipline her by not replacing the dishwasher since she would not honor his request not to put knifes in the dishwasher. This, according to Lori, is Godly and just because husbands must discipline wives.

What are we? Two years old? I guess I should just be grateful Lori’s not advocating having husbands spank the wives like some have mentioned *coughcoughLarrySolomonBiblicalGenderRolescoughcough*

Screen grab from Always Learning – Should Husbands Ever Discipline Their Wives?

A grown man thinking he can tell you that you cannot go out with your friends, yet is not under the exact same requirements as you when he decides to get together with the guys?

The only discipline there should be in marriage is when you self-discipline to do things like work on bad habits, or to save money, or to remember not to do something, or to do something your spouse requests. Marriages are not meant to master and slave relationships. Equals do not punish each other! Not even in passive agressive ways.

The only way in complementarianism that a wife has to discipline her husband is to either ask for prayer for God to change a difficult husband, or in subtle passive-aggression actions. There’s nothing adult or mature about this group.
