There has been some discussion in the secret roach coach chatroom of Lori Alexander’s and on her public page of The Transformed Wife on the subject of early marriage. Lori states in her blog post about marrying at 18, when it is legal, but in the chatroom and other places is advocating for much younger marriage, 16 and younger. Lori herself waited until she’d completed her college education and had the skill set to work outside of the home and have a career. So her words and advice are something on the hypocritical side, like always. Do as I say, not as I do!

There are many reasons why marriage should really not happen much before you finish at university. From simple ones like continued brain development into your twenties, to having the skills and education to join the work force if something happens. Maturing enough to know how to navigate this world. Lots of good reasons to wait to at least 18.

I’m just going to share the parade of screen caps of Lori and her commenters. I’ve not removed any of the names because I want the world to see what types of evil people promote the marriage of children, many times to people much older than they are.

This is the type of thinking and behaviors that leads right to child trafficking for sexual purposes.

It might have worked for Lori because her father paying for her education was an enormous waste of money and time.

The reason ‘the haters’ (also known as people with common sense who are not abusive like Lori) object to young marriage is that in many cases it is an older man exploiting a child. That is the objection. It’s another form of child abuse, and trafficking for sexual purposes.

Lori told a tale in her chatroom about being approached by an 18 year old who’d married at 16 just the other day at church. As Lori tells the tale in her blog the husband is just a few years older, but.. the first time this likely false tale appeared in the chatroom the man was much much older, like two to three times her age.

Assorted commenters, some of which sound exactly like Larry Solomon.

Young marriage has again and again been linked to bad outcomes, higher poverty rates, lower life expectancy, children born with more birth defects and health issues, lowered educational levels, very high divorce rates and the list goes on. But Lori likes to pretend it’s the answer to the evils of the world.
