Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar Political Plague Rats – COVID 19 Open Thread

This is something that popped up on social media in the last day or so. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, going door to door, maskless during a pandemic. What where they doing I hear you ask? Stumping cluelessly for son Jed and his problematic run for state office.

Jed is running to be a state representative for their particular neck of the Arkansas woods. He is running against a very highly qualified woman with advanced degrees while he has the Duggar homeschool of the kitchen table education. Looking at Jed’s platform it’s all Trump supporting standard Evangelical boilerplate, with one long exception. Jed claims to be an overtaxed small business owner.

Yeah, About that. Jed says he is the owner of Champion Motor Cars, the same business that lists brother Josh Duggar as the single owner on Linkedin. Jed also conflated his role in his volunteerism for another political campaign, Bob Ballinger, to be his ‘campaign manager’. I know things are done differently in the Evangelical Quiverfull world but I hardly think an 18 0r 19 year old kid is going to be named campaign manager. He also claims to have been a ‘legislative aid’ when he very briefly interned at the Arkansas State House.

Add in there has already been controversy and complaints about this political run. Jed is running in district 89 and his family home is in district 80. So suddenly Jed Duggar owns a house in the 89th district that he shared with his twin. Photos on social media make it seem like this house might be a cuckoo’s egg in another bird’s nest. It looks sort of like the real thing, but it’s not. Those social media pictures show a house with two twin beds in one bedroom and zero furniture in the rest of the house, like a set up to fake Jed living in the right district to run. Without actually living in the right district to run.

There’s nothing wrong with supporting your child running for office, no matter how ill prepared or educated they are. There’s a lot wrong with doing so completely unmasked during a pandemic.  They’d have gotten a face full of Lysol spray from me.

This is one of those things they used to preach, shout and claim from the rooftops when I was Quiverfull. The need to train up your children to overtake all the high places in society, political, social, educational, and in entertainment, to stop the Satanic hordes from warping American culture. Never dreamed that they are the warped ones, not everyone else.
