Never stop praying for anyone. Every person on this earth is made in the Image and Likeness of God, and every single one of them is welcome at His table. All they have to do is say “yes” to Jesus and then follow Him.
The most unlikely people have found their way to Christ, St Paul persecuted Christians, participated in the murder of St Stephen, and was actually on his way to imprison and kill the Christians in Damascus when Our Lord intervened with him in a dramatic fashion.
Not everyone gets tossed off their mule and struck blind. Not everyone hears the voice of Christ, asking them why they are “persecuting” Him. But a lot of us have our own conversion stories that are powerful enough to have transformed our lives. Jesus Christ will change the direction you are going, not by force, but by loving you from death to life.
This video tells the story of an unlikely convert; a leader in ISIS. Think for a moment what converting to Christ cost this man. But that’s how it often is. Following Jesus may not be as costly for you as it was for a leader in ISIS, but it will set you apart and separate you from your old crowd.
No matter how cool you try to be about it, they will not accept you. There’s something in them in that will be repulsed by the Jesus in you. This can happen to you, even in your church groups. A lot of today’s “Christian” churches aren’t Christian at all. They’ve sidelined Christ and all but kicked Him out of their little club because His teachings don’t fit in with their worship of the gods of this world.
Simeon told Our Lady that Jesus was to be a sign of contradiction. So He was, and so He is. Yesterday, today, and forever, Jesus separates the goats from the sheep, the wheat from the tares.
