Saving Democracy is the Moral Imperative of this Generation

It’s easy, when the mad king spits out constant lies and creates national crises out of thin air, to feel that we’ve already lost America to fascism.

It’s easy to fall over in despair when every Republican in Congress lines up on national news to tell lies that are so obviously lies they would be comical if they were not lying in support of a ruthless police state, concentration camps and the destruction of all our freedoms.

It’s easy to decide that American democracy has fallen, when the mad king calls in the National Guard and sends out the FBI and DEA more armored up and weaponized than the Marines were on Iwo … and they arrest a guy for throwing a sandwich and charge him with a felony.

It’s easy to let the mad king overwhelm you with his madness and his evil.

The trouble with all this is that it’s a lie, built on other lies, and supported by more lies.

The only thing that is true is that this is an evil regime, led by an evil man. The only thing true is that the Republican Party is dead and gone, and what calls itself the Republican Party is just a 2025 version of the NSDAP.

ICE appears to be the mad king’s Gestapo. Alligator Alcatraz is his concentration camp. The Republican Party looks like his NSDAP. And the mad king is working hard to turn the National Guard into his Einsatzgruppen.

This is difficult thinking for Americans. This new reality is a paradigm shift that a lot of Americans can’t absorb.

It difficult for Americans to believe that our safe, stable, beautiful land of freedom has been hijacked by tyrannical monsters. People who voted for the mad king are especially vulnerable to all manner of fantasy thinking in this regard. It’s painful for them. They need our love and prayers.

It’s difficult and painful to know this, but the reality is that America is under attack by enemies from within. The thing the Founders feared is sitting in the Oval Office.

But despair? Nope. This is not the time for despair.

Give up hope? Absolutely not.

Quit the fight? No way.

The mad king is afraid of We the People.

If the mad king wasn’t afraid of us, he wouldn’t be using his puppet governor and puppet Republicans in Texas to re-draw congressional seats. He’s doing that because he’s not as much in control as he pretends, and he knows it.

Almost all of the billionaires, corporations, universities, television networks, a good lot of our religious leaders, and even the heads of other countries have crawled in on their knees and kissed the mad king’s rear end in public. They’ve “donated” $billions, flattered, stopped reporting the news, fired anyone who angers the mad king and generally handed themselves over to him as his puppets.

But We the People are demonstrating, writing, speaking, and showing up to fight.

And he’s afraid of us. He’s really, really, really scared of us. I think that’s why he’s hiding the Epstein Files. I think he’s scared of what we’ll do if we know what he and Epstein did to those little girls. That’s why he’s using his puppet Republicans to re-draw congressional maps. He’s scared we’re going to vote for people who aren’t his puppets, people who might actually care about America and about us.

Congress has always had the power to stop the mad king and save this country. But the Republican Party is in control in Congress and the Republican Party is acting like the 2025 NSDAP. They aren’t going to save America from going Nazi. They are Nazis.

After watching the Republicans in Congress these past 6 months, I’ve become  convinced that there is nothing the mad king can do that they will not back him. If your Congressman or woman is a Republican, you do not have representation in Congress. All you have is another soprano in the mad king’s castrato choir.

That sounds grim. And it is. These are historic times. We are on the cusp of something far uglier than the world has ever seen before.

Germany was just a little country. This is the United States of America. We have proven these past 80 years that we have the power to lift the whole world up. But we also have the power to plunge it straight down.

The one thing — the only thing — that the mad king is afraid of is us.

And he has reason to be afraid.

Congress has the power to stop him, but Congress is controlled by Republicans and the Republican Party you’ve backed is dead and gone. It is now the 2025 NSDAP.

There is one group of people left who can stop the mad king. It will take time. It will take guts. It will take determination. But We the People can shut him and his entire regime down cold.

I think that why he’s doing everything he can to divert us from the Epstein Files. I think he’s afraid of us and what we’d do if we knew the truth. That’s why he’s re-drawing maps to try to steal the 2026 election. He’s afraid of you.

The mad king is afraid of you.

And he has reason to be.

These are dark times. The people we thought were the best of us have been exposed as cowards. The lying liars in power don’t even care that everybody knows they are lying liars. The mad king is using chaos and fear to try to cow and silence us.

These are dark times, and We the People need the inner strength of knowing without question that we are on God’s side.

That’s isn’t as difficult as some religious leaders make it out. We have the 10 Commandments. We have the Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes and the Gospels. We have the 2,000 year teachings of the Catholic Church. We have the Pope.

There is no doubt here. God is always on the side of truth. God is always opposed to lies. God is never going to be on the side of concentration camps. Rape is an anathema, a sin against life. Jesus said people who hurt children would be better off if someone tied them to a millstone and cast them into the sea than to face what awaits them when they stand before God. Bribes, greed, and hate are all mortal sins.

American democracy, as imperfect as it can be, truly is what John Winthrop called a “city on a hill.”

Saving America from this regime of evil is the moral imperative of this generation.

It is the work God has placed in front of us. It is our privilege, our honor, to stand up for freedom, democracy, honesty, sexual integrity, compassion, love and decency.

If people shun you or attack you because you are standing up for moral values, democracy and freedom, don’t be dismayed. Thank them. They are giving you the Kingdom of Heaven. Then, say a genuine and loving prayer for them. They, not you, are the ones in grave peril.

Note: When I wrote the people who attack you for standing up for moral values, are giving you the Kingdom of Heaven and you should pray for them, I was applying Matthew 5: 11-12, and Matthew 5: 44. The Bible condemns lying, bribery, greed, unjust courts, and hatred repeatedly in both the Old and New Testaments, as does the Catechism and the constant teaching of the Church going back to Peter.  Jesus Himself specifically condemned child abuse in one of His harshest teachings.
