No Kings Day was a gi-normous success.

It was a love fest for American democracy.

The Trump regime did everything they could to whip up their base to violence with repeated lies and nonsensical stories.

They called the 7 million Americans from all over the country who went out on a Saturday to stand up for democracy everything  from “communists” to “Hamas” to their made up bugaboo, “antifa.” They said, as they always do, that we were paid to demonstrate by their other bugaboo, George Soros.

Why did they do this?

First, I think they wanted violence. I believe they were trying to incite the nut jobs in their base to attack the demonstrators.

Second, I think they were trying to intimidate the American people into staying home and standing down.

They’re afraid of us. They know what they’re doing to this country. They may lie about it in public. But they know.

These lying tyrants, for all their lies, bullying and threats, are riddled with fear. They’re afraid of the Mad King. They’re afraid of each other. They’re afraid of the billionaires who own them. Some of them might even be sincere and honest enough about their pretend political “faith” to feel moments when they are afraid of God.

But most of all, without a contest of any sort, they are afraid of us. We the People scare them to the point that they stutter when they lie.

There is nothing more dangerous to corrupt men than the truth.

There is nothing a tyrant fears more than the people they govern.

Tyrants live by the lie, and they live in fear that the people they govern will see through the lie.

These greedy, lying, tyrants are afraid that the American people will see through their lies. They know that if that happens, their tyranny will unravel.

Seven million Americans … let me say that again …

Seven. Million. Americans.

… used their right to free speech to go out on a Saturday and show the world that they see the lies and they know the lies for what they are.

They lied about No Kings Day because it scares the snot of out of them. They’re afraid of us.

3. They lied because, as much as they fear the 7 million, and as much as they fear the Mad King, and as much as they fear one another, and as much as they fear the billionaires who bought and own them, they are really, really, really scared of their own three-apple base.

If one day the Mad King shows his three-apple followers a photo of two black swans …

… and he then tells them it’s a photo of three apples …

… and that three apple base replies, “You’re lying. That’s a photo of three black swans. You are mad, and you’re not a king.”

… if that ever happens, this tyranny stops dead and America’s democracy will be saved.

The most important reason the Mad King and his stooges lied about No Kings Day and the reason they are still harping on it this morning is that they have got to keep their “base” believing the lie and the delusion. Otherwise, they’re done.

They’ve got to keep their Three Apple followers blindly believing them and following them and backing them. So, they’re doing what they’ve always done. They’re lying.

They lie about God. They lie about anyone who opposes them. They lie about themselves.

But there is a thing called the truth. And the truth wears away lies. Sometimes, in the case of really talented liars and entrenched demagogues who’ve gotten their hands on the levers of power and are twisting and turning those levers without conscience, it takes time.

Sometimes, truth seems to wear away lies as slowly as water wears away stone.

But no lie can stand in the face of truth. Not forever. Not ever.

Democracy had a good day Saturday. The Mad King went on a disgusting rampage with his posts later that night. We’ll talk about his crazy tomorrow.

We’ve watched these past months while our institutions abandoned this democracy and handed themselves over to the Mad King without a fight. Almost all the billionaires — kudos to those brave few who have stood up for democracy, btw — in this country have shown themselves to be sick twists who are wiling to burn down the country that made them rich if it will put another dollar in their pockets. Whole “christian” denominations have kicked Jesus out of their churches and replaced Him with the Mad King and the Republican Party.

If America is going to be saved, it’s really up to We the People to do it.

And that’s ok. We built this country in the first place. We’ve saved it every time it was in peril for 250 years. It’s ours. And we’re going to take it back from the Mad King and the homicidal billionaire boys’ club and their puppets behind the pulpits, in Congress and on the Supreme Court.

And it’s beginning to look like there are more than a few of us — patriotic Republicans who care more about America than their political party, Democrats, Independents, Catholics, Methodists, Nazarenes, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, disgusted Evangelicals who care more about following Jesus than being accepted in their local church, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, pagans and people of no faith at all.

We don’t agree on much of anything except the main thing and that main thing is that freedom, our Constitution, this country, are worth fighting for.

We’re a hodgepodge of humanity. We’re black, white, native; young, old, men, women, boys and girls.

Hitler called Americans mongrels, and in that one thing, he was right. We’re the mongrels of the world.

We are Americans.

And we will save our democracy.
