Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies …
… And on the pedestal, these words appear
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away. Percy Byssche Shelley
I knew No Kings Day was a massive success. But if I had doubted that, the proof would have been in the yowling, howling, non-stop lying of Trump and his regime. I’ve heard some incredible stuff from Trump’s stooges, including those in Congress, but nobody can out-gross Trump himself. The man is a firehose of abuse, insult and crawly ick.
He is also, I’m beginning to think, seriously mentally ill.
I got up Monday morning and found that Trump had been bleating out his reaction to No Kings Day all night Saturday night. He posted the video I’m linking to below. It’s an AI representation of Trumpy himself, all decked out as a pilot in a jet while wearing a crown that’s gaudy enough to fit in at Mar a Lago. But it’s not just another one of his dorky, self-adoring AI thingies where he’s pretending that his saggy, baggy old body is actually that of a young, masculine super hero, muscles all pumped up and with a full head of real hair, nary a combover in sight.
No, this time Trump cracked open the cellar door to one of the lower chambers of his sadistic old mind. In the video, he flys over a street full of Americans and dumps … how do I say this delicately … poop? … sewage? … feces … down on top of them.
Trump also posted a video, which is in the same link I posted below, of himself, placing a crown on his own head while royal ermine robes like kings wear at their coronations appear on his shoulders. He holds a sword aloft and — get ready for this — members of Congress, one of them looking suspiciously like Nancy Pelosi, crawl into his presence on the floor and bow before him like he’s Ozymandius.
I’ve seen a number of “news” people and right wing talk-talkers, including, of course, Congressional Republicans, doing their best to sane wash this thing. You know the drill: “Trump likes to test boundaries,” “that’s just Trump.” His stooge House Speaker, Mike Johnson, chimed in to say the video was “satire.”
It wasn’t satire. It was a President of the United States, dumping offal on the American people and declaring that he really does see himself as a king. He made it pretty clear what he thinks of us.
Here’s the video. I want to emphasize that Trump posted this himself on his own social media platform. It’s not a fake or a phony. He did it.
I believe Trump is evil. I think he’s a moral degenerate. I believe he’s sadistic, cruel and corrupt. He’s old, and he appears to be slipping cognitively. But this video and others like it lead me to question whether or not he is also mentally ill.
Incompetence, a total lack of morals, and insanity is a scary cocktail in a man who has the power of the United States of America at his disposal. When the Supreme Court puts him above the law and re-writes the Constitution for him, and the Republicans — who control both houses of Congress — bow down before him just like the figures in his video, it can spell disaster for America and every American.
We elected him, and we made a terrible mistake.
