Pope’ Prayer Intention for Feb: Pray for the Little Children

The Vatican just released this beautiful video of Pope Leo, praying his prayer intention for February.

It is, as I said, beautiful.

Our Holy Father asks us to pray for children with incurable illnesses. He asks us to pray that these children “may never be without proper medical care, human and compassionate care, and the support of a community that accompanies them with love. Sustain their families in hope in the midst of uncertainty, and make of them witnesses of hope that grows stronger through trial.”

That is a beautiful prayer and one that I think any person of compassion and love can pray without reservation.

I hope that in these evil times we will pray especially for the children who are suffering and dying from lack of medical care because of the greed of a few billionaires. Millions of American children have lost their health insurance and their access to Medicaid. Because of this, many of these children will die when they would otherwise have lived.

I have a family member who has the terrible cancer, Glioblastoma. He has worked all his life. In fact, he was getting ready to go to work when the symptoms got so bad he went to the doctor, instead. That’s how he was diagnosed.

He’s an ordinary working man. His job did not provide health insurance. He couldn’t afford the new, high, premiums to get his own insurance. Now, he’s been cut off Medicaid, as well.

I oppose abortion for one reason: Abortion kills a living child.

Many millions of American children are going to be cut off from health care just like my family member, all because of Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill.

Pope Leo’s prayer intention for this month is so beautiful, and so painfully pertinent for this time we are living through. The blood of every child — every person — who dies because of that bill is on the hands of the president who demanded it, the lobbyists and special interests who fought for it, and the senators and representatives who voted for it. They all knew what it would do.

When you pray our Holy Father’s prayer intention this month, say a special prayer for the children who will suffer and die because of the Big Beautiful Bill.
