I guess I missed this at the time. Pope Francis included women who are subjected to domestic violence in his prayers last April. He also made note of the fullness of women’s contributions to human society in their work as doctors, nurses, police officers and other roles. He included specifically, women who work from home, caring for their families. The Holy Father’s inclusion of women was not the primary focus of his prayer but I am grateful of any mention... Read more

This flash mob is one of my faves. When I was going through cancer treatment, I spent a lot of hours alone with the Host. It was an immense source of strength, comfort and help. Read more

When you’re running for president, everything you do is news. Joe Biden went for a bike ride with friends, answered a question and told a little joke. That’s news. (And it’s kinda fun.) I am confident — and a little afraid — that all the accounts will be settled when we stand before God. I believe, based on my own experience... Read more

Didn’t you know that we have been looking for you these past three days sorrowing?  Forgetting trauma, or at least moving if off center stage, is the only way forward in life. The first requirement of taking hold of what lies ahead is letting go of what you have now. Babies let go of their infancy, mothers let go of their babies to embrace the children they become. We change jobs, bury loved ones and surrender our youth to... Read more

An angel of the Lord appeared to Joesph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.  Jesus was betrayed to Herod by the wisemen whom God had called to come pay homage to Him.  These wise men must have been spectacularly unwise, naive and trusting to so completely overlook the ruthlessness of power. On their journey to see... Read more

He said to Mary, the baby’s mother, “This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, and many others to rise. He has been sent as a sign from God, but many will oppose him. As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your heart also.” The moment you hold your first newborn in your arms is the most wonderful — and the most terrifying — moment you will... Read more
