It is rare that I hear another actor in Hollywood speak out against gun control, but this week I cheered when I heard actor Kurt Russell do just that in an interview with reporter Jeffery Wells.
Actor Kurt Russell put gun control activists on blast during a recent interview.
“If you think gun control is going to change the terrorists’ point of view, I think you’re, like, out of your mind,” Russell said to anti-gun Hollywood reporter Jeffery Wells while promoting his new film, “The Hateful Eight.” “I think it’s absolutely insane.”
“If I’m a hockey team and I’ve got some guy bearing down on me as a goaltender, I’m not concerned about what he’s gonna do — I’m gonna make him concerned about what I’m gonna do to stop him,” Russell continued. “That’s when things change.”
When Wells argued that people on the no-fly list can still easily obtain guns, Russell fired back.
“They can also make a bomb pretty easily. So what?” Russell said. “They can also get knives and stab you. [What are you] gonna do about that? They can also get cars and run you over. [What are you] gonna do about that?”
Exactly! But gun control advocates don’t like to engage these questions. Why not? Because they don’t have good answers. They want to feel self-righteous while they expect freedom-loving gun owners to do the hard work protecting them. They just don’t get it. Criminals aren’t going to follow gun laws. Even The Washington Post Fact Checker agrees that none of the proposed gun control laws would have stopped the numerous mass shootings over the last few years.
And Russell’s conclusion is spot on!
“You and I just disagree. I understand that you think you can control the behavior of people that are dead set on taking your way of life away from you. You think you can control that? And there’s only one thing you can do with that. And that’s [to say} ‘No, dude, that’s not gonna happen. That’s just not gonna happen.’”
Liberals in Hollywood and Washington need to wake up and take Russell’s comments to heart. We need to stop talking about taking away Americans’ guns, and start actually talking about the real problem – violent Islamic extremists who will stop at nothing to kill us!
