Since Sunday’s news, I can’t get Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” out of my head. By now, you’re probably caught up, but let’s go ahead and discuss the ousting (or “resignation,” as it was initially presented) of Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen. It didn’t catch many off guard, as it has been rumored for some time that Trump, as well as the shadow president, Jared Kushner, have been less than thrilled with her performance at the border. Insiders... Read more

Last week I had the opportunity to see the movie, “Unplanned” with a group from my church. You may have heard of the movie, or you may not have, which wouldn’t be a surprise. The big screen adaptation of former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson’s book [by the same name] was distributed by Pure Flix, a small company known for producing Christian content. Johnson was the youngest clinic director in Planned Parenthood’s history, leading a facility in Bryan, Texas, with... Read more

So on Wednesday evening I wrote about a report from The New York Times regarding comments from some members of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe team. A number of investigators involved with the nearly two year old probe felt recently seated Attorney General William Barr had diminished their findings, when he gleaned a mere four pages from what was a report that compiled over 300 pages of work. By “diminished” I mean he downplayed the severity of the report... Read more

Well, while the posturing and clashing over what special counsel Robert Mueller’s report may or may not of said rages, has anybody bothered to ask those investigators who were in the trenches with him for the past several years? It would seem that those who worked on and contributed to the report may have some insight as to what went into the final report. Fortunately for us, The New York Times has done the footwork, touched base with some of... Read more

It should be as no shock to anyone who has been paying attention for the last several years that decisions within the Trump administration are being made to appease Trump’s ego and tendencies towards nepotism, rather than in the best interest of our nation. This is what happens when a republic forgets its constitutional rights, with a citizenry who have become comfortable with being sheep, rather than patriots. Authoritarianism creeps in, taking small bites of our freedom, until none is... Read more

This is a step in the right direction, and if the liberal talking heads are even remotely serious about “women’s health,” they will give this a thumbs up, as well. I’m not holding my breath. On Friday, the Trump administration announced that they’re awarding a $1.7 million family planning grant to the California-based Obria Group, a chain of pro-life crisis pregnancy centers. The group, while they don’t provide contraceptives, consider themselves to be the equivalent of Planned Parenthood, minus all... Read more

One of the funniest anecdotes I’ve read about Donald Trump was featured in GOP strategist, Rick Wilson’s book, “Everything Trump Touches Dies.” In the book, Wilson recounts his conversation with an [actual] successful Manhattan businessman, in regards to the Trumpian fantasy of the president as a high-rolling, wildly successful entrepreneur, rather than a reality TV punchline, with comic strip hair. Donald Trump’s scams and screw ups in the business world are no secret to natives of New York and New... Read more

I honestly never feared the end of the Mueller report resulting in Donald Trump walking free. I had deep concerns for what would follow. I had concerns about his supporters and how they would react. For two years, I’ve listened to the cacophony of their gutter rhetoric, insane conspiracy theories, and outward, open nastiness towards anyone, no matter who it was, that didn’t pledge undying fealty to King Donnie the Most High. This is not an exaggeration, on my part.... Read more

The morning after takes on Attorney General William Barr’s summary of the finalized Mueller report are a sight to behold. Not a good sight, mind you. They range from the outrageous to the grotesque. I’m noticing several distinct groups of thought. In one group, mostly populated by Democrat lawmakers, there is the belief that Barr was compromised. He is a newly-seated Trump appointee, beholden to the president, and only where he is because of his past criticism of the probe.... Read more

I’ve dutifully followed the probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election from its beginnings, and now it looks as if I can start wrapping this up. Special counsel Robert Mueller turned in his final report on Friday, putting its fate in the hands of newly-appointed Attorney General William Barr. The discussion through the weekend was how soon Barr would complete his review of the report and when he would turn that review over to Congress. On Sunday afternoon that... Read more
