6 Minutes of Witchcraft: The Wrong Kind of Viral

6 Minutes of Witchcraft: The Wrong Kind of Viral March 14, 2020

Sometimes going viral is a good thing….but well, dad jokes aside, this kind of viral isn’t.

In this video update, I talk about how the coronavirus has been impacting my schedule and community, and some other ways of using your time and resources to help out others and reconnect.  I had some issues recording the video, and ended up doing the whole thing like 3-4 times, which meant I didn’t mention everything I had intended to, because I wasn’t sure if I just said it, or if that was the previous attempt. Derp.  So there’s notes after the video.

The Notes:
It’s natural to be upset about events, gatherings, classes, and special happenings being cancelled. Like, there’s no way around it: it freaking sucks.  It especially sucks for those organizing the events, but also of the folks whose income is connected to the event – especially the small businesses.  The cancelling of everything to contain the virus really cascades far and wide, impacting a lot of people.  But as I said in the video, if we can minimize how long and hard this virus affects the population, hopefully the good will outweigh the negative.

It’s so easy to stress and worry, but this is also a good time to reconnect with those around you, to realize we’re all in this together, to help each other out.  Ask yourself: What can you do to help out others who might be affected in different ways – older people who may not be able to leave to get supplies, people who may need assistance with childcare, sharing food and supplies, and supporting the creators.  If you are in a situation where you are not being affected financially or physically, see what you can do to support others.

All of the festivals, markets, and other events I know are making their list of vendors/presenters available with links to their sites and stores.  Sharing those links, purchasing goods and services – these are great ways to help support small businesses that you value – so they can keep on making/doing the thing.

This is an opportunity to really see how we all are connected – and how we can positively affect those around us.

*By the way, if you like the Immunity Booster Sigil, be sure to share not just the image, but a link to the original blog post.  People need to be able to understand what went into the sigil, what it means, and see how it can be used.  Just sharing the image without attribution or link isn’t very helpful. Shared Magic Sigils are designed and presented specifically so that people can learn the how and why, which is such a vital part of Witchcraft.
