It seems no matter where you look, we see elected and hired officials openly abusing their power. Power bestowed upon them by the people. Politicians actively working against their own constituents with unjust laws. Law enforcement murdering the very citizens they should be helping. We must continue to fight for and protect basic human rights for all people and seek to balance power with justice and accountability.  As Witches and magical practitioners, we can integrate magical resistance work with our mundane work to do exactly that. The Responsible Power & Accountability Sigil has been created to aid with actions that support creating a more just and balanced society by strengthening accountability to those who have been given power. Read on to find out more.

The Crafting of the Sigil

On January 29th I returned to teaching Sigil Witchery as a virtual workshop. A integral part of the class is co-creating a sigil together. (We’ve created quite an array of notable sigils in the last three years that you can find using #sigil to search this blog.) With the news full of murders by police and unjust laws regarding trans and queer bodies, education, etc,  we worked together to create this sigil. It is meant to aid and amplify our everyday work to bring balance and justice. The sigil is a reminder to those in power who they work for – we the people – regardless of gender, skin color, religion, sexuality, or economic means.

Here’s a screenshot of the virtual workboard from the workshop.

Suggestions On How To Use This Sigil:

You are welcome to use this sigil however you see fit that is in alignment with the intent of the sigil.
Some suggestions for use:
– Install the sigil subtly in/near places of power
– Use to amplify protests and other forms of awareness & education to fight injustice
– Inscribe on candles (we recommend black, blue, or white, but up to the practitioner to use what they feel is best) to amplify justice work, working with deities/spirits of protection and power balance, directed to those in power.
– Use with campaigns to amplify the visibility and reach of qualified candidates who may unseat those who abuse power

Please note: When sharing this sigil (or any other sigil you find on this blog), please be sure to include the link to the blog post.  The sigil works best if people understand precisely what went into it, versus just sharing the image and telling people to use it.
