The Aequitas Sigil – We Call Upon Justice Herself

The Aequitas Sigil – We Call Upon Justice Herself June 30, 2023

Most of the sigils you will find on this blog are created during my Sigil Witchery workshops – co-crafted by myself and the attending students. But there are some sigils where I find myself beyond words and must sit down to draw out a plan of action. And then feel it should be shared with others who are likely in the same boat. The Power Sigil was one of the first shared magic sigils created in this way.

Justice Compromised & Bought:

Within the last few days the Supreme Court of the United States has struck down equitable education approaches, sanctioned discrimination, and tried to banish student debt relief for millions – and we can’t forget the year anniversary of the attack on Roe Vs. Wade. This is the result of what a stacked, bought-and-paid-for conservative court delivers – and it is certainly not justice nor democracy. Those who think that elections don’t matter, those who think racism, cruelty, bigotry and abuse are things to be admired – they have brought us here.

We must continue to fight for the sovereignty of our bodies, for our rights, equity, and the opportunities that are said to be the cornerstone of this country “freedom and justice for all.” Well, we’re calling in Justice Herself to represent and to aid with magical resistance and empowerment.

To aid in the fight, I give you the Aequitas Sigil.

The Aequitas Sigil

What’s Included In This Sigil:

  • circuit of truth prevailing and energizing change
  • regaining healthy balance within the framework and maintaining it
  • immediate restructuring in line with democracy – expanding the court, term limits, return to ethics
  • not only the revelation of wrongdoing but the summoning of consequences for those working against the whole of the people, and the removal of the compromised
  • change from the root level to the top in line with the needs of the future
  • invoking the aid and essence of Justice in all Her forms and the Mighty Dead
  • protection of the people
  • installing of judges who are of the people
  • fairness, fruitfulness, equity and equality engaged and thriving
  • trident to rule fairly, torch to illuminate the way
  • reduce the influence of fascism, fundamentalism, and the 1%

Aequitas is the Latin concept of justice, equality, conformity, symmetry, or fairness – and the origin of the English word “equity”. Depictions of Aequitas from ancient Rome show her with the familiar balancing scales as well as a cornucopia – a symbol often associated with the goddess Fortuna. Other goddesses associated with justice include Themis, Athena, Durga, Maat, and Nemesis. You can find more justice deities here from around the world. This sigil will work with any of them that you might work with.

Suggestions On How To Use This Sigil:

You are welcome to use this sigil however you see fit that is in alignment with the intent of the sigil.

RIGHT NOW: At the time of this post, the full moon is almost upon us. I suggest applying the sigil with black ink to a white candle and call upon a Justice deity or an ancestor/Mighty Dead associated with Justice (such as RBG). But moving forward this sigil can of course be used at any time, and especially in situations regarding the Supreme Court such as investigations and appointments, as well as elections in general.

Please note: When sharing this sigil (or any other sigil you find on this blog), please be sure to include the link to the blog post.  The sigil works best if people understand precisely what went into it, versus just sharing the image and telling people to use it.
