IN unprecedented move on Thursday night, the US House of Representatives voted to remove Capitol insurrectionist, QAnon supporter and 24-carat loon Marjorie Taylor Greene, above, from two committee posts she was assigned after was recently made a Congresswoman.

Before the vote, Green – whose craziness stretched as far as to advocate the shooting of senior Democrats – frantically tried to convince people that her anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and her embrace of whacky conspiracy theories was a thing of her past.

According to ABC News,  she expressed regret  – but no apology – in a speech over some of her past remarks. She said of her past posts and interactions on social media:

These were words of the past and these things do not represent me, they do not represent my district and they do not represent my values.

I am beyond grateful for this opportunity, and I’ll tell you why. I believe in God with all my heart, and I am so grateful to be humbled, to be reminded that I’m a sinner, and that Jesus died on the cross to forgive me for –  to forgive me for my sins.

The  BBC adds this quote:

I was allowed to believe things that weren’t true. And that is absolutely what I regret.

Greene, who also had some cockamamie views on the New York  Twin Towers attack, said she now believes “9/11 absolutely happened” and:

School shootings are absolutely real and every child that is lost, those families mourn it.

This, after stalking and bullying a school shooting survivor, calling him a “coward.” But she also attempted to blame “cancel culture” for her troubles and the media for how she’s come across, saying:

Big media companies can take teeny, tiny pieces of words that I said, that you have said, any of us, and can portray us into someone that we’re not.

However,  she now has a new “free speech” platform: Gab, a social media site that boasts of not fact-checking. It’s aim, according to its CEO, a fellow lunatic called Andrew Torba, is to establish a Christian Taliban in the US.

A few days ago Green used Gab to post this:

It will come as no surprise that MyPillow Christian huckster Mike Lindell has also signed up to Gab.

The House approved a resolution that removes the Republican Reprentative from her assigned committees: the House Education and Labor Committee, as well as the House Budget Committee.

The final vote tally was 230-199 and 11 Republicans voted in support of the resolution.

Greene, a vocal supporter of Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of election fraud, has been condemned by Democrats and many Republicans for embracing numerous conspiracy theories in videos and social media activity before she took office this year.

In posts and videos from 2018 and 2019 reviewed by CNN, Greene – one of Trump’s many toxic legacies – endorsed violence against prominent Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and suggested that the Sandy Hook and Parkland shootings were staged “false flag” operations.

They have since been taken down.

The move to boot her from the committees came after Republican leaders refused to remove her themselves following pressure from Democrats to do so. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters she was “profoundly disturbed” that Republican leaders decided against removing Greene from her committees.

That’s just so unfortunate. You would think the Republican leadership in the Congress would have some sense of responsibility to this institution.
