This month, instead of firing up Jen Fulwiler’s Saint Generator to choose a random saint for the month, I feel like this month’s saint has already been chosen for me. Last night, I had the pleasure of going to the Dominican House of Studies for their All Saints Vigil. The service was beautiful, and, as is always the case when I go to the priory, I ran into a great number of my friends.
But, the big surprise was that the Dominicans brought out a first class relic of Pope St. John Paul II and had a chapel open for people to be blessed and to reverence the relic.
With that as the start to my November, I felt like skipping my usual randomization routine and just taking my cue from the Dominican vigil. Especially since I wasn’t a Catholic during the papacy of John Paul II, so I’ve never engaged with his writings and life very much,
Do you guys have a few short (or one long) reading to recommend to me this month, as I try to get to know John Paul II better?
