Book Giveaway – Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America

NOTE: The winner of this book giveaway is David Dempsey from Mississippi!  Congratulations and I hope you enjoy the book!

Mom gave me a shout out in yesterday’s Facebook entry about a great new book.

Ben Shapiro has a great new book out called “Bullies: How The Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America.” Ben’s premise about the left’s silencing tactics is absolutely correct. Obviously I’ve witnessed the left’s bullying behavior up close and personal when it’s been directed at those so close to me. And, of course, I’ve seen how nasty it can be for other conservatives as well. You know, there’s something especially ugly about the way the left goes after children of conservatives. I still find it highly ironic that the supposedly “tolerant” left has done nothing but bully, demonize, and judge my daughter Bristol for making the right decision to keep her baby and work so very hard as a single mom to care and provide for him. I don’t know of any conservative “war on women,” but I sure have seen the left’s war on conservative women!

Please read Ben’s book and consider his advice about how we must stand up and push back twice as hard against this bullying. We must not allow ourselves to be frightened into silence. Yes, it’s hard to “keep on keeping on” when being pushed around – but like Ronald Reagan said: when we stiffen our spines, those around us can stiffen theirs, too! Press in, press on. Don’t retreat, friends!

Of course, I’ve written about bullies before on this blog, so I’m excited to hear that Ben Shapiro is tackling the subject in a book. In fact, let’s do a book giveaway!

Tweet @BristolsBlog and @BenShapiro with the hashtag #BulliesGiveaway to enter to win a copy of his new book! (I’ll pick a winner randomly next Friday at noon eastern, so stay tuned!)  If you aren’t on Twitter, please leave a comment below for your chance to win!

Hey Bristol I would love to read this book. I agree we need to stand up and put a stop to it. There are so many people in America that don’t realize the harm that is being done to our future generations. Everyone needs to take a stand. I am I have too.

Ah Yes, the poor poor Palins, always victims of the Big Mean Left. It is especially hard to stomach this from the girl who, along with her sister, called someone “Sh*t Talker” “Faggot” “Queer” “Gay” Low Life Loser” “Raghead” and probably more than I have forgotten about, simply for saying that they didn’t like your reality show. Not to mention This Video
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT4-yACHEv4
of Todd Palin verbally and physically threatening and old man. The Palins are the biggest Bullies out there. For any of them to turn around and whine and play the victim card is ridiculous.

    • BGB

Bristol has never used a derogatory word. She called someone a shittalker, yes. Has she done that since?

SUre her sister’s EX-boyfriend called someone a raghead. Know what? She broke up with him. Know why? She complained about his partying lifestyle and lack of ambition.

What would YOU say to and about ALL the people who have slandered, trashed, and called Bristol et al nasty names for no reason except that you aren’t republican and don’t like Sarah Palin?

You don’t know these people, as I don’t know you. I am asking you simple questions.

Grow up and see perspective. The people you demean are perhaps the strongest people in the world and have grown even closer despite the immature slandering from left-leaning sycophantic nobodies who can’t even do adequate research into Obama’s true history and record., not to mention his very blatant lies.

    • sodakhic

Jessica, we can’t even print what your buddy, Bill Maher, and Obama million dollar donor, called the Palins.

  • Lee Hohman

Would love to win this book. I’ve disliked the way you and your family has been treated by the left “wing-nuts” ! I also work in school to curb the bullying problems there.

  • Jen

    Love your blog

  • Diana Pickard

A book I know my husband and I would love to read. I too was bullied by people on the left. Called a douchebag and told to leave the USA and return to Canada cause I voiced my opinion. Today these left people talk about me to others and say they should be aware of me. LOL. I truly learned from this past election, some of these lefts are mean and have have such nasty mouths. I adore the Palin Family. Bristol you are such an amazing young woman.

  • yossi

i saw him on hannity……..sounds like a great book

I do find that the approach of members from the Left party is the bully approach. I love the republican party and its platform. I wish I could persuade ppl to join this great party, but they have fallen into the trap of falsehoods of charm and BS of Obama. YES,,, I want to read this book. Sign me up, please. And thank you for the opportunity for the giveaway.

  • Newagegop

Great idea for a book. The left rarely debates the issues anymore. They just name call and degrade.

  • Misty

    Good luck!

  • Leslie Wagner

I am not on twitter, but would love to win a copy of this book, so I am posting for my chance. I of course will buy a copy if I do not win, but the idea of winning a copy is too tempting. By the way, I know you will not read the comments when you pick, but I hope you do read the comments we leave when they are full of admiration for the entire Palin family. You guys have shown the world class, and true grit as the Duke use to say. Just keep on keepn’ on and I will keep reloading every time our Government throws another foul ball my way. God bless all the Palins and Heaths…………….and God Bless America.

  • blueniner

Ben Shapiros book sounds interesting his topic of bullies hits close to many of us one time or another and to the Palin family in the public eye. Bristol you are a beautiful woman inside and out, may you be active on all the causes that interest you and be an advocate for great causes.

  • http://www.myjourneysthroughlife.wordpress.com Lori Moffit

I would LOVE to win a copy of this book! I admire the courage and character. You have shown through the last several years, ever since you came to national attention as a result of your mom’s vice presidential candidacy.

  • MiddleRoader

I haven’t read the book yet, but saw some interviews he gave recently, and his views seem rather extreme. He declared Obama as the Left’s nr.1 bully. He claims that the Right “can’t be civil” with the Left, and that the Right shouldn’t play fair with the Left anymore. He said the Left is standing on the bodies of the Sandy Hook victims (to push gun control). Here’s a part of the book description on Amazon: “The left has created a climate of fear wherein ordinary Americans must abandon their principles, back abhorrent causes, and remain silent. They believe America is a force for evil, that our military is composed of war criminals, and that patriotism is the deepest form of treason.” Really???? This kind of radical rhetoric may help sell books, (and, to his credit, I think this is his 5th book and he’s only 28!), but it’s not true of the lefties whom I know. Bristol herself has posted about having spirited but civil discussions with people with different views; sounds like Shapiro would not approve. And really, is any side silencing America? We as Americans are so lucky to live in a time and place where we can speak our minds. I’m not really feeling a “culture of fear”.

  • David

I just watched a video of Ben Shapiro debating Piers Morgan about the 2nd Amendment and Piers tactic of bullying anyone on his Show who has views that are opposed to his views.
Ben did a good job of putting Piers in his place.

  • susan pevenise

oh oh pick me pick me he he love your show

  • Charichad

I saw his interview he had with the annoying idiotic Peirs Morgan. Shapiro is refreshing and an awesome young man.

Speaking of infiltrating pop culture and changing it for the best (what the Palins are all about), hope this politically incorrect kid in the clip below will inspire you to keep keeping on. Sarah is a class act, btw.

That boy has an incredible voice! Thanks for sharing. I think he was 12 when it was recorded (13 now).
There’s also a youtube clip of him singing “Amazing Grace” that is awesome as well. I don’t think it’s politically incorrect at all.

      • melory

You are welcome. I hope he has all the young ones praising the Lord – how is that for changing the culture!

    • melory

meant to say “for the better”

  • Victoria

I’m not on twitter, but I would LOVE to read this book! I’ve become WAY more interested in the conservative cause since our recent election.

  • MiddleRoader

I also watched the Shapiro-Piers Morgan debate that others mentioned and recommend it (You can find it on YouTube) . I thought both sides made valid points, and it did not become a screaming match. Shapiro went too far when he accused Morgan of standing on the graves of the Sandy Hook children (to push his anti-gun agenda.) By the same measure, when he talked about his grandparents and great-grandparents in Europe who are “ashes” because they did not arm themselves against tyrannical government, he could be accused of standing on their ashes to push his agenda. But the truth is that all of us, in our search for answers to the Newport tragedy, view it through the prism of our own views and experiences. However, Shapiro had an excellent point that most murders are committed by handguns, and, by not addressing that, Morgan is not being philosophically consistent. However, Shapiro too is not being philosophically consistent when he says that the main intent of the 2nd Amendment is resistance to eventual government tyranny, yet he supports the ban of fully automatic weapons and criminal background checks for everyone. Although he did not so state, I assume he would not want civilians to have access to tanks, drones, bombs, chemical weapons, etc. Yet a government gone “usurpacious” would have access to these weapons, and I don’t think even a large amount of people with assault weapons of any kind would have a fair fight. Shapiro also supports non-public registration of gun owners (which I support as well), but one of the first things a tyrannical government would do is use that registration list to try and confiscate the guns. Shapiro doesn’t mention that you have to weigh the consequences of a government gone tyrannical with a segment of the population trying to overthrow the government. Both are possible, but improbable. When the 2nd Amemendment was adopted, the U.S. government was still very fragile– no one really knew if Democracy would work. If, God forbid, the U.S. government becomes tyrannical, there are so many options – impeachment, riots, appeals to other countries, the Internet and social media. Look at the Arab Spring. Yes, weapons could be used, probably in targeted assassinations, but other than that, they’d be no match for whatever the federal government would have by then. My personal prism through which I view gun violence, is that we need to target ALL violence- murders, rapes, child abuse, domestic violence. We need to identify at-risk individuals and try to treat them. We need to do more brain-based research. We need to assess children’s empathy levels (which seems to be a common thread among all violent criminals), work on ways to teach and nurture empathy, and conduct follow-ups. We need to expand mental health services and treatment options. We need to tackle the drugs and alcohol connection to violence. Yes, maybe assault weapons and high-capacity magazines should be banned, but that’s only one tiny part of the problem. It will take decades or more to solve this problem, and that’s only if we stay focused on it.

  • Jeremiah

Agreed Middleroader that we need more science based decision making. That’s one of the reasons the Obama government was elected and re-elected. And I think they do that here with gun violence…. As other countries have.

    • Scott Cameron

Jeremiah, Obama was the 1st president in history to win a second term with a smaller percentage of the vote than 4 years before and he only won by 4+ million votes, which is the same number of conservatives who refused to vote for Romney because he was too moderate. Considering the changes in population as well as the 2012 ballots that remain uncounted and the 90 million eligible voters who stayed home, I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about why he was re-elected. Also, consider this, “Something’s amiss at the Department of Interior. Eight government scientists were recently fired or reassigned after voicing concerns to their superiors about faulty environmental science used for policy decisions. Which begs the question, ‘Are some government agencies manipulating science to advance political agendas?’ ”

Thanks for the chance to win a copy of this new Ben Shapiro book. I hope my comment here will suffice as an entry into the draw. Hope everyone is having a great 2013 so far.

    Aloha Bristol,

Last week Governor Palin posted a recommendation for Ben Shapiro’s book and now it’s listed on the NYTimes bestsellers list, as well as being the top-selling political book on Amazon. Palin Power!

I think this internet site has got some really great information for everyone. “Philosophy triumphs easily over past evils and future evils but present evils triumph over it.” by La Rochefoucauld.

  • MiddleRoader

Interesting, possibly even commendable, that Sarah Palin would endorse Shapiro’s book, since he wasn’t all that complementary to her.

  • Liane

Says Benjamin Shapiro in the video Azaria linked here: “I think Sarah Palin is the smartest case of media manipulation in probably all of modern history.” Wow. It’s awfully kind of her to endorse his book considering that assessment.

  • susan pevenise

Sarah does a kind heart to some. you know she read that book through and through before deciding to promote it. it must have some good points in it

  • MiddleRoader

I agree, Liane. In fact, my post above was a reply to Azaria’s post, which appears to have mysteriously disappeared, at least on my computer. If you google “Ben Shapiro” and “Sarah Palin” on YouTube, you can easily find the video.
