The Preggo Update:

As of last Monday, I am 2 cm dilated, 70% effaced, -2 station & having many useless contractions.  I’m up to 196 pounds (for a total of 33lbs. gain so far) & surprise most of my friends when they see me in person.  They say things like, “uh, wow.  Your big!”  See for yourself here.

And this pic is exclusive to my blog –not for facebook consumption– so you can see what a giant blob I am right now:

giant, blob like, miserable uncomfortable, barefoot preggo mess!
I am a giant, blob-like, miserable, uncomfortable, barefoot preggo mess! A hot, hot mess, yall.

For a long time, I have been a bit apprehensive about labor but today I woke up with a vengeance.  I suddenly feel ready for my imminent torture beautiful birthing experience.

My husband is in Ann Arbor today at a very important speaking engagement, so we have both been praying that labor won’t start until at least 11pm tonight.  After a full nights sleep tonight I promise you I am going to walk tomorrow morning until I can’t take it anymore.  My due date is this Monday & it’s time for me to take the situation into my own hands! 🙂

With my 1st son Ransom, on the Thu. before his Monday due date I painfully forced myself to walk 45 minutes and about 10 minutes later my water broke!  Let’s see if I can work this same magic again!  My only mistake was that I took the walk at midnight, water broke at 1am, meaning I got no sleep –he was born Friday morning at 7:47am.  Starting life with a newborn seems like it would be a lot easier if you’ve not spent a whole night awake doing what some say is the equivalent of running 20+ miles!  This time around, I’ll wait until the morning for the walk. (duh!)

I’m also feeling the great peace of being as prepared as possible.  In the last few days I have…

~written & printed a birth plan

~ read “Secrets of the Baby Whisperer” twice, and taken extensive notes which I posted on our fridge, in my journal & gave a copy to Dave.

~ cooked more meals to freeze

~ gotten & arranged baby boy’s crib/crib sheets, pack’n’play, diapers, wipes, onsies, bedroom, pacifiers & organized bottles, nipples & formula.

~ read through a nursing book &…

~ have every possible thing planned & packed for the hospital including a couple new nursing bra’s, snacks & a few movies.

~ I’ve also been faithfully taking a 2-3 hour nap every day & feel rested for the blessed event.

~ Every day I shave, shower, tweeze & pluck… just in case it’s “the day.” 🙂

So, doggone it, bring it on baby boy!

The Ransom Update:

My little boy has been so sick.  He’s had bronchitis, an ear infection and a high fever for about 5 days! 🙁

I must admit, I love the sick time snuggling.
I must admit, I love the sick time snuggling.

He’s had little to no appetite which is really bad considering it’s difficult to get the little man to eat anyway.  He’s been on breathing treatments every 4-6 hours & been downright lethargic.

We tell him "it's time to be a fighter pilot!"

The great thing is, through all of this he hasn’t asked much of me.  Or he’ll rethink it… “I want Mama to come play Lego’s with me.  Oh, but your belly is too big to get on the floor with me, so you just sit there, Mama.”  It’s been nice to have him be so understanding.

The Bed Update

A few weeks ago I wrote about how Ransom got a new toddler bed but couldn’t stay in it. He’s done well since then!  We have only caught him like this a few times…

Small Progress, eh?
Small Progress, eh?

Well, the other night I woke up because I thought I heard him breathing.  (I know I know, this is such a Mommy thing, but I do know the sound of his breath as compared to Dave’s right next to me).  I asked Dave to get up & go check on him.

So, Dave leaves & all of a sudden we see Ransom on the floor, at the foot of our bed & he says out loud, (loudly) “Hey! How did I get in here?”

Oh boy. Now we’ve got a sleep-walker.  I think I’d prefer the falling out of bed instead of wondering now if he’s wandering the house and potentially putting himself in danger unknowingly.  ay ay ay.

A Surprise Visit From Friends Update

On Monday a couple of my former students & lovely friends Michelle & Stephen stopped by for a surprise visit with their precious little girl, Sarai.

Of course I tried to get a few good shots of Ransom & Sarai but either my camera or Ransom would not cooperate.

She is one of the most beautiful little girl babies I've ever seen. Love her!

It was so nice to see them.  They live off in another town now & I was reminded how much I love & miss them.

My New Love Update

Last but not least, I’m in love.  I’m in love with Glee.  “But wait a minute”, you may be thinking, “I thought you & Dave got rid of your cable & have only one measly channel?”  Yes, your right.

I’ve been watching *Glee* on hulu.com.  In one week I caught up with the 1st six episodes.

If you haven’t partaken of this glorious & hilarious new television show: do!

Last week, there was a part where I was laughing so hard I was crying tears & sounded like a smoker.  I literally lost my breath in laughter & couldn’t breathe!  In fact, it may have been the hardest I’ve laughed in a mighty long time.  It was wonderful to be lost in laughter for over 5 minutes with my belly shaking like a bowl full of jelly.

Don’t wait, hop on over to hulu & start with episode 1 – you won’t regret it! 🙂
