Am I the only one who does this?

So everyone knows what this picture is all about right?

Whenever I am eating any kind of colored or flavored candy (skittles, m&m;’s or jelly beans etc.) after I grab my handful I automatically count them into groups by color or flavor, then I eat the extra ones so there are even amounts of all of them, then I eat one of each candy individually until they are all gone.

So in this case I would eat a black one, a purple one and a yellow one. Then orange, purple, yellow, orange, purple, yellow. This is completely normal and rational right? Don’t most people automatically do this?

Most people except my husband that is, he thinks I’m crazy. It took him several years of married life to realize that if I was going to share my candy, he had to either eat the “extra’s” or take one of each color. Otherwise it would throw off my system. I have tried to explain it to him, but he just doesn’t get it. He just says I’m obsessive.

But I am not obsessive, I could eat candy out of order if I wanted to, I just don’t want to. And besides, I am not a very organized person, I don’t obsess about anything. In fact, this is the only kind of food that I sort before I eat.

Wait.

Except chips of course.

Because you have to separate the broken pieces from the whole ones, and you always eat the broken ones up first.

Because everyone does that.

Right?

Right!!! At least I do it… and since there are 2 of us who do it I think it's safe to assume that everyone does it, except for husbands. My husband thinks I'm crazy too LOL

Haha! I think I do that, too!

That's so funny! I don't do it with the chips, but of course I do it with Skittles and M&M;'s. Who doesn't? :)

Ha! I don't really sort the candy, but I know how many of each color is in the pile, and I try to keep the numbers even. Like, if there are only 2 reds, but 4 yellows, I will NOT eat a red first. I'll even out the yellows, then alternate. So I guess, my answer is: yes, I'm crazy too :)

I'm very late finding this, and I'm here now only because you linked it to a Quick Take post this week.

But of course you sort the candies by colour and eat the surplus ones first! Doesn't everybody?!

I admit I've never applied it to chips, but I can see your logic. : )

I like to sort the candy by color and eat the color with the fewest first, and go on till I get to the color with the most and then stuff them all in my mouth at once.

I always sort my candy into what I called cycles. My brother would learn to either ask for an extra or a whole cycle.
