Yes, Bad Catholic is coming to Patheos!

So many changes, I can’t keep up! I still have press releases to write!

Hey, did you see Crescat’s new banner? It’s great, isn’t it?

Where was I? Oh, yes, we’re all bad Catholics, here, so it is only fitting that I should announce to you (since Marc has already done so on his blog) that Marc Barnes is bringing his Bad Catholic Blog over here — possibly as soon as this Friday!

If you are unfamiliar with Marc’s blog, well…here he is:

I could lie to you and tell you I am making this move solely so your experience of my writing will be bigger, better, faster, stronger etc. etc. but in reality, Patheos pays money. And I’m a college student. And hungry. As in right now, I’m hungry. Be right back.

Alright, I’m back. Don’t cry, I know Blogger is hip and with-it. But Patheos is better! It has Mark Shea and The Anchoress! We’re gonna be room-mates on the Internet! (Yeah come on in, ignore the bearded guy, he makes a lot of jokes that only make sense if you were a nerd in the 80′s.) Plus, it’s got portals for all sorts of other religions, and I am so freaking excited to have conversations with the ‘Progressive Christian’ portal. I wonder where they are progressing to.

The child has a lot of energy. He will be a most welcome addition — along with Mark Shea, who is still getting acclimated (to those of you who have asked yes, his mug will soon be on the Landing Page, along with all the rest of us, where Max is writing Modest Proposals on Immigration (I like the mustache one) and Greg is reveling in a book and Francis is inventing new words!

On Friday, we’ll announce yet another new blogging addition(s), which will likely begin next week, when we also debut a terrific, well-regarded writer with a new column; I know you’re dying to know, but you’ll have to wait!

Cuz Lizzie is having trouble keeping up!

By the way, over at the Book Club, Rick Rice has read Father Barron’s book and decided that Catholicism is like a sweater! You’ll have to read it to find out how.

No way! You’re kidding, right? Bad Catholic Marc is a riot! He’s a ball of laughs.

Patheos pays? Not only a blog site that pays, but a Catholic one as well? Where do I sign up?

Not having read Rick Rice’s review yet, a few observations on why Catholicism is like a sweater:
—You get it as a gift from your relatives, and don’t value it nearly enough until you get cold.
—It knits together diverse fibers into one garment—not always seamless, not always fashionable, often in need of blocking and having the pills removed, but one indeed.
—It requires hand washing and air drying (water and and the Spirit).
—You can pull it on over your head or button it up over your heart—we have room for intellectuals and emotionalists.
—All reserve goes out the window at Christmas.
—Sometimes it makes you itch. But you wear it anyway.
