Patheos Passes 1 Million Unique Monthly Visitors

Milestone Strengthens Site's Reputation for Hosting the Conversation on Faith

DENVER — August 17, 2011 — Patheos.com, the world's premier online destination for global dialogue on religion and spirituality, today announced that the site crossed 1 million unique monthly visitors for the first time in its history. The site's traffic has grown at a sustained rate of 15 percent monthly throughout 2011.

"I think the growth of Patheos is a product of the appetite that exists in this country for reasoned, honest conversations about faith," said Leo Brunnick, Patheos CEO. "Patheos is home to many of the most important and respected writers in the world of religion today, and we're adding new voices to the mix on a weekly basis."

Patheos is committed to hosting a marketplace of ideas from across the religious spectrum, from Evangelicals to atheists, and Pagans to Muslims. Some of the most popular blogs and writers at Patheos include:

  1. The Anchoress and the Deacon's Bench (Catholic Portal)
  2. The Slacktivist, Tony Jones, Diana Butler Bass and Brian McLaren (Progressive Christian Portal)
  3. Scot McKnight, Ben Witherington, Mark D. Roberts and Timothy Dalrymple (Evangelical Portal)
  4. The Wild Hunt and Gus diZerega (Pagan Portal)
  5. Padma Kuppa and Sally Kempton (Hindu Portal)
  6. Rabbi Yitzchok Adlerstein and Rabbi Eliyahu Yaakov (Jewish Portal)
  7. The Friendly Atheist

"It's critical to Patheos' mission that the site reflects the rich religious diversity of the country, so we're continually adding new resources," Brunnick said. "We launched a Progressive Christian Portal this summer, we're adding new sections to our World Religions Library, and this fall we'll be launching two additional portals, as well as a couple of site sections designed to engage people on some of the most pressing topics in our society today."
