The U.S. government has made a major change about its investigation of UFOs, meaning Unidentified Flying Objects. A few years ago, the Pentagon renamed UFOs Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP). Seventy-nine year old Tom Weiskopf died yesterday after suffering a two-year bout with pancreatic cancer. Tall and handsome, Weiskopf excelled as both a player on the PGA Tour and a golf course designer in his post-Tour life. Tom Weiskopf won 16 tournaments on the PGA Tour. He won one of the four major championships in pro golf–the 1973 (British) Open. His most frustrating tournament was the Masters, where he finished second four times. That golf course fit his game. Defending champion Patrick Cantlay won the BMW Championship today in Wilmington, Delaware, by one stroke over Scott Stallings. The leaders were jockeying for position that back nine until Cantlay broke loose with a birdie-par finish for a two-under par 69 and a 72-hole total of 268. Dale Douglass died last month at the age of 86. During my PGA Tour career, Dale was Douglass about the nicest guy on the Tour. I’d say it was a toss-up between Dale and Al Geiberger, with maybe Gene Littler close behind. Never a bad word was ever said about these three pros, and all of them were outstanding players.
