Review: Logos Bible Software 2026 Libraries 2026-02-12T15:28:44+00:00

Here is a video in which I talk to you about the review version of the Logos Bible Software 2026 libraries, and show you how to approach choosing which libraries to buy and how to do this economically.

Also available wherever you get your podcasts, on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Please like, subscribe and follow.

I was kindly given a copy of one of the Preacher libraries by Logos so that I would review it, but I’m not constrained as to what kind of review I give. I confess that I so spend an awful lot of money of my own on Logos. If you want to contribute to my Logos addiction, please feel free to click on the affiliate links in this article and you’ll give me a small contribution towards that.

Now, when I am deciding which of the libraries I want to go for, which I want to pay my own good money for, one of the things I do is look at what’s available. The big question is how much can you afford? But it may be that you want to go for something in the middle, even if you’ve got extra money, because you could use some of that extra money in a different way.

I’ll give you a couple of examples.

Let’s look at Bibles.

You’ll see that actually the Bibles are not that good in many ways for these libraries. I think the assumption is that you’ve already got some Logos, but perhaps you don’t. Maybe you don’t have some of these translations. Maybe there are other translations you’d like.

Let’s take one example. The NASB. If you wanted just to buy the NASB 2020 update, it would only be $9.99. So why not buy that separately rather than necessarily one of the more expensive versions of the library?

But it gets more complicated than that.

If you click on “Learn More,” you’ll see that yes, you can buy it individually. But you’ll also see that it’s included in other collections. Believe me, you can spend hours deciding precisely what collections you want to buy!

The Mixed Bible Translation Collection is  a really good one if you don’t have very many Bibles. It has not one, but six different Bibles, only for $40. They’re often about $9.99 each if you buy them individually. So you’re saving money and getting a number of Bibles here. If you don’t have these Bibles in your Logos, this is a great way to get them.

But what about commentaries?

That’s where a lot of these libraries really come into their own. As you can see, if you were going for a nice middle one, you get 255 commentaries. This is a big way in which it contributes to the cost of the items altogether.

There are a number of different commentaries here. Without going into too much detail, the ESV Expository Commentary, for example, is $189 if purchased on its own. The Silver Library is $279. You’d be a bit crazy to buy that on its own if you wanted some other things also.

You see a few others in here like Tyndale, Pillar, lots of these. Tyndale is $338 on its own.. Have a look. Decide what you want.

One of the things that interests me is the counselling and pastoral care section. I’m writing at the moment, as some of you may know, about The Traitor Within: Understanding and Healing Our Deceitful Hearts. Looking at some of the pastoral care material looked quite interesting. For me, I figured out which one I wanted. In this case I didn’t have to pay for it. But this is how I would go about selecting from the libraries.

I’ll show you one other thing which is quite interesting. This is how you can get sucked into a little bit of a detour, but it can be helpful.

Spurgeon

Here’s, for example, the Spurgeon Upgrade Collection. It’s two volumes. You think, “Oh, Spurgeon.” Perhaps you haven’t got any Spurgeon, and I would suggest you should get some. This is just £16 and gives you a taster. It’s in a few collections but not really many of them. This is an example where perhaps you would consider getting it on its own.

What’s important to note is that these are not the main Spurgeon sermons. What’s more to the point is the Complete Spurgeon Sermon Collection. That’s what I would advise people to get. It’s not cheap at $500. But what’s really interesting is if you look down the page, there are several different collections which include it  that actually cost less! It’s very important to look there. You could save yourself a large amount of money and get some extra resources if you’re interested in Spurgeon by simply using this kind of approach. For example, Logos 8 Baptist Silver might be of interest. You click on that and you can see, in addition to the Spurgeon sermons, there are a number of other resources in there, including set of sermons by Adrian Rogers. Some Bibles, some commentaries, in addition to the Spurgeon that you’re looking for.

I hope that gives you an idea about how to try and make the best use of your money when it comes to Logos.

About Adrian Warnock
The resurrection of Jesus changes everything. Just not all at once. Healing takes time. Compassion and patience carry us over a lifetime of change.
These are the themes I explore in my books and in the articles I have written for Patheos since 2003.

My writing draws on my scientific training as a doctor and psychiatrist, my work in the UK's National Health Service and the pharmaceutical industry, alongside more than twenty-five years as a member of a growing church where I served on the leadership team offering pastoral care.

My perspective has also been shaped by chronic illness since 2017, when I developed life-threatening pneumonia that caused lasting damage to my body, triggered several further conditions, and uncovered a diagnosis of blood cancer. This was successfully treated, although doctors expect it to return in the future. Out of these experiences I founded Blood Cancer Uncensored, an online patient-led support community.

I am the author of the Transformed by Jesus: Spiritual Renewal series of books, which ask:

→ Is the Easter story true, and what does it mean?

Raised With Christ: How the Resurrection Changes Everything

→ Why is change so difficult? What causes the resistance?

The Traitor Within: Understanding and Healing Our Deceitful Hearts

→ How does transformation happen over time?

Amazing Grace: How Faith Grows in the Human Heart

→ What are the first steps on a journey of faith?

Hope Reborn: How to Become a Christian and Live for Jesus

These books bring together medical, psychological, social, and faith-based insights, advocating for a biopsychosocial–spiritual model of wellbeing. My qualifications and training reflect this integrated background:

→ British MB BS medical degree (equivalent to an MD in the USA)

→ Postgraduate qualifications in Psychiatry (MRCPsych) and Pharmaceutical Medicine (MFFM, DipPharmMed)

→ Theological training courses run by Newfrontiers
