Shock! Clock boy returns to America after learning we’re not all that bad July 12, 2016

He’s baaack! Ahmed Mohamed, better known as “Clock Boy,” has returned to Texas after living in Qatar and is on a mission to change the “entire world.”

It’s been a pretty good ride for Mohamed, who received a personal invitation to the White House from President Obama himself, gifts from Microsoft, and even his own social media hashtag, #IStandWithAhmed. And all for simply building a clock everyone thought looked just like a bomb.

And even though he became an overnight sensation, Mohamed felt he had become “emotionally damaged” by all the negative attention and hired lawyers to sue his town of Irving and the school district for $15 million! Apparently, the “damage” was so bad he had to move to the Middle East just to get away from all the “racism and discrimination” in America.

However, it must not have been too good over there because he’s back home in Texas for the summer, praising the diversity in America and is sharing what he plans to do next. Here is what he said recently to The Dallas Morning News:

“America is very diverse, and I see there’s many cultures that are widespread around the nation. Over there it’s a Muslim country, but here it’s more diverse.”

“I want to help change Texas for a better state, and I hope that not just for Texas, but the entire world. People sometimes don’t want to admit their mistakes, and sometimes the best thing to do is to help them change.”

“I just want to invent. I want to help the world a lot, and it would be amazing to see my creations in action.”

After the summer, Mohamed wants to head back to Qatar and finish school and then attend MIT and earn a double-major in physics and electrical engineering.

As for his religion, Mohamed said he has enjoyed learning about Islam by visiting Mecca with his family.

“I felt good being able to learn my religion because it wasn’t an opportunity I had here in the U.S.,” he said. “It was easier because your religion was basically embedded inside the country.”

These are some very big goals for somebody who just took apart a digital clock, stuck it inside a pencil case, and called it an invention. I even had to agree with Richard Dawkins for once when he tweeted, “Don’t call him “clock boy” since he never made a clock. Hoax Boy, having hoaxed his way into the White House, now wants $15M in addition!”

“He didn’t make anything. He opened a clock, took out the innards and put them in a box so they looked like a bomb,” Dawkins said in another tweet.

I guess that’s why his update didn’t mention any specific inventions he has in mind to change the world.

Should we be worried?
