Arkansas Legislators: Don’t Just Show Up! Support a Convention of States NOW

You Arkansas residents should raise a fuss over this. In your state, the Convention of States resolution (HJR 1003) came up for a vote, and seventeen representatives either voted “Non-Vote” or voted “Present.”

Present?  Really?  Is this kindergarten roll call on the first day of school?

No!  Our nation is at stake, and we need legislators to take a stand.

The resolution technically failed, but they’re going to vote again on it Friday at 11 am.  That means we have to act NOW to  gain 6 additional votes to get the 51-vote majority.

Here are 4 things you can do:

1. Please CALL or E-MAIL every legislator who either voted NO, or who stood on the sidelines with a NON-VOTE or PRESENT. You can say something like this: “I was disappointed to see you not vote YES on the only Constitutional solution to our out-of-control Federal government. Please support the Convention of States HJR 1003 resolution on the upcoming vote for reconsideration.”  (You might not want to compare them to kindergarteners!)

2. If your own representative voted Yes (see below), send him or her a kind email with a short message: “Thanks for supporting the Convention of States HJR 1003. Please continue to stand with us for the re-vote.”

3. Send this blog post to 10 family and friends in Arkansas to ask them to stand with you in contacting these legislators.

4.  Post this blog post on Facebook and Twitter to spread the news!
