Here is another great guest post from Deacon Joshua Klickman. It was originally a homily for the feast of Christ the King. But seeing it’s Advent and I procrastinated looking at, I tweaked it to a Advent Homily….Mark 1. Advent is the time we get ready to celebrate the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. During Advent and Christmas it is good to be reminded that the infant Jesus Christ has received all power, divinity, wisdom and... Read more

You Better Watch Out… You Might Just Cry… You Better Not Complain… I’m telling You Why… Advent is coming to town… and it is that time of year that we prepare for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. Christmas is on its way. Lovely, glorious, beautiful Christmas, upon which the entire kid year revolves. Advent helps prepare us for having the hap-hap-happiest Christmas we could have. I’m hoping that this article will help you smile, as smiling’s my favorite. Catholics... Read more

When you think about it, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is the celebration of the result of a sexual act. God deemed in his infinite wisdom and generosity to bestow in human beings a deep drive and desire to connect with other human beings in a very physical, intimate and pleasurable way. This act which combines the fullness of our human natures, physical, emotional, and spiritual results in what is supposed to be the bonding of human beings in... Read more

This is just a list of a bunch of Catholic books listed by category in what is mostly groups of 12. It is purely here for reference reasons and may develop into individual posts at some point. It is in need of filling in and being perfected. It’s also long, but it’s a list. So maybe you’ll find a good new read, or  discover an old one.  For a list of recent books see the 2019/2020 Catholic Book List The... Read more

There are more authors producing books then I will ever have time to read.  There is always someone writing something interesting, inspiring and informational, but I don’t have the attention span to finish most books, let alone the money to spend on them. Yet I like to learn about who is out there writing and publishing what. Because I am Catholic I like to know who is out there sharing their Catholic faith through the medium of books. I also... Read more

I think this story is mostly true. This family was on vacation and they stopped for the night in a motel. The next morning the mother gets up early and is out to the car to get things going, so they can have an early start to the day. She’s kina groggy and tired. So, she gets back to the motel room. As she enters, she gets very irritated because she thinks her husband is still in bed sleeping away.... Read more

A blessed new year to all our readers. That’s right, Advent is back. We listen to the second coming of Jesus while getting ready for Christmas day.  Some make extra sacrifices for Advent, like a mini Lent, while others simply shop until they drop, while singing Come O’Come Emmanuel, the only advent song Catholics know. I suggest we all take the four weeks before Christmas Eve to grow in faith, in prayer, spiritual reading, good works etc.  Have you thought... Read more

It’s Black Friday and the sales are going on on-line. It’s the time to buy and save without having to shove and poke and avoid bodily harm in the stores with obnoxious and insensitive people reaching for that cheap expensive TV. While people are stocking up on material goods, we as Catholics know our true goods are in heaven waiting for us. That is God, the angels and saints. Our brothers and sisters. So for those of you who don’t... Read more

400 years ago….. About a 100 Pilgrims set sail from not merry ol’ England to what is known today as Cape Cod. They arrived at Plymouth rock where they set up their new home and a future lucrative tourist site and place for school field trips. About a year later… The Puritans decided that, all things considered, it had been a pretty good year, except for the fact that the vast majority of them were at that point dead, so... Read more
