7. Atheists believe in nothing
This argument usually stems from a scientific position. Theists, in general, can attribute life to their god of their choice and it makes explaining the origins of life much simpler and sometimes gives theists a bigger sense of meaning in their life.
Many, or most, atheists explain life from a naturalist’s standpoint and they begin with the big bang. This often starts the argument “how can something come from nothing?” And while the scientific evidence supports that this can, in fact, happen, it leaves many theists feeling that naturalism is empty and without a god to attribute to his or her being, there is nothing to believe in.
The truth is, atheists believe in lots of things. They believe in the integrity of the scientific method, they believe in good, they believe in humanity, and the list continues. Atheists, just like religious believers, believe in many things, they just don’t happen to believe in God.
