While all the other wingnuts are losing their minds over the decision to put Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill and calling it political correctness run amok, Bryan Fischer is claiming that anti-gay bigots like him are just like her because her cause was moral and so is theirs.
Bryan Fischer is, of course, a young earth creationist. He’s also a bit….truth-challenged, to say the least. So on his radio show, he claimed that Reuters had published an article disproving evolution once and for all. But it wasn’t from Reuters, it was from a creationist website that had used an image from Reuters.
Bryan Fischer is like Old Faithful, he can be counted on to spray stupidity into the air at very regular intervals (pretty much every time he opens his mouth, in fact). His latest bit of dumbassery is to claim that Bryan Adams and Bruce Springsteen are racist and sexist for opposing anti-gay laws in Mississippi and North Carolina.
This surprises me. As the controversy over Trump’s comments on abortion continues to grow, Bryan Fischer is taking the position that once abortion is outlawed, women who have abortions should not be punished. Of course, he does so for the incredibly patronizing and condescending reason that women just don’t know any better.
Bryan Fischer, a genuine Christian theocrat who thinks the First Amendment only protects Christianity, thinks that it’s time to “de-Islamize” America, following the advice of the loathsome Geert Wilders. But he uses a rather interesting and convenient argument for doing so:
Oh, how I love Bryan Fischer. The man is almost incomparably irrational and ignorant, not to mention utterly oblivious to his own contradictions. And when he says things like this, I crack up. Abortion, he says, is like “food for demons” and “gives them permission to operate.” Because apparently demons need permission. Who knew?
While his fellow wingnuts spin lurid tales of dark conspiracies about President Obama having Justice Antonin Scalia murdered, Bryan Fischer agrees with Glenn Beck that Almighty Gawd himself killed him. And he had to have a reason, right? The reason, he declares, is to make the Supreme Court the focus of the presidential campaign.
Bryan Fischer is one of those conservative Christians who doesn’t understand why other wingnuts are supporting Donald Trump, but now he’s finally hit upon an explanation: The devil did it. Yes, Satan himself is manipulating evangelical Christians to support Trump in the election.
I troll the right wing fever swamps every day, so I’m rarely left astonished anymore. Stupidity is pretty much the only currency in use there. But every once in a while someone will come up with something that leaves me in a state that combines laughter with amazement. That’s your cue, Bryan Fischer.
Bryan Fischer’s views of the First Amendment have always been contradictory and absurd, but I don’t recall him contradicting himself so blatantly in the same rant before. He claims that NASA is violating the Free Exercise Clause by banning mentions of Jesus in their newsletter. So let’s look at what he says:
Bryan Fischer, master of the totally unsupported assertion, said on his radio show this week that every single Muslim charity in the entire world is just a front to raise money for terrorism. He provides no evidence of that, of course, just a bald assertion. Probably the holy spirit told him or something.
