I am writing a book that has two chapters about “transhumanism,” also called “human enhancement.” The symbol H+ is used to signify it. It refers to future medical science improving the human species by multiple means, mostly with “genetic engineering.” It is now also called by other terminology, such as “gene-editing.” This movement involves ethics. Many Christians already oppose it. They claim humans should accept how God made us. Then, do they oppose straightening teeth or wearing glasses or contact... Read more

Bible scholar and former Anglican Bishop N. T. (Tom) Wright is Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at St. Mary’s College at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. That can’t be all bad since St. Andrews is the birthplace of golf. However, some crusty ole Dutchmen will argue with that one. Tom is generally recognized by his peers and religious publishers as being at the top of his craft for decades now. Tom Wright is also a friend... Read more

Forty-three year old Tiger Woods just made golfing history, winning the Masters by one stroke. He had won his first Masters in 1997 at 21 years of age. It was an amazing victory. He had gotten off to a really tough start even though he didn’t play poorly, shooting either a 39 or 40 the first nine. Yet for the rest of the tournament, he ran away from the field, winning by several strokes. Eleven years later, he won the... Read more

The steady Italian Francesco Molinari grabbed a two stroke lead in The Masters today with a 54-hole score of 13-under par 203. Tiger Woods and Tony Finau are tied for second. Brooks Koepka is alone in fourth place at 10-under par. Molinari has the best chance to win since he two shots ahead and is so consistent. Plus, he says he has improved his putting with major changes. Yet, there are so many outstanding players trailing not far behind him.... Read more

[For an explanation of these 18 posts, see Part 1 published on 3/27/2019.] What about a U.S.-Mexico-Canada Virtual Fence? The U.S.-Canada border was another concern by U.S. immigration authorities. This border is nearly 4,000 miles long. So, the northern and southern borders of the U.S., which are located adjacent to its only two neighbors, total nearly 6,000 miles in length. Constructing a physical barrier along both borders would be far too costly and difficult. Many American politicians argued that walls... Read more

CNN just published an oped by Joe Lockhart entitled “Donald Trump is sabotaging American’s democracy.” I think he’s absolutely right. I blogged about this over two years ago, right when Trump became president. Who is Joe Lockhart? He was White House press secretary for President Bill Clinton from 1998 through 2000. Lockhart rightly says the Republican Party used to be for smaller and more efficient government, fiscal responsibility (thus lower the national debt), and the government being less involved in... Read more

The rain-delayed Masters seemed to cause yesterday’s leaders to stall on today’s second round. Koepka and de Chambeau had taken the lead yesterday with six-under par 66s. But at the end of the day, today, five players were tied for first at seven under par 137. They are America’s Brooks Koepka, Italy’s Francesco Molinari, Australia’s Adam Scott and Jason Day, and South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen. All of these players are stars who play the PGA Tour regularly and have won... Read more

[For an explanation of these 18 posts, see Part 1 published on 3/27/2019.] A U.S.-Mexico Wall-Fence But there remained more to do to stop Islamic terrorism and illegal immigration in the U.S. President George W. Bush authorized 6,000 additional agents to shore up the understaffed and overworked U.S. federal Border Patrol along the U.S.-Mexico border. Yet most Americans thought that was not enough. So, in early 2006, the four U.S. states along this border sent their National Guard troops to... Read more

The Masters was off to a great start today for the fans, with so many of the best pros in the world in the hunt. Muscleman Brooks Koepka and unorthdox swinger Bryson de Chambeau each shot six-under par 66 to take the lead. Forty-eight year old crowd favorite, and one of the greatest players of all time, Lefty Phil Mickelson shot 67. Western movie star looking Dustin Johnson is at 68. A huge number are tied at 70, with 14-times... Read more

[For an explanation of these 18 posts, see Part 1 published on 3/27/2019.] Illegal Immigration on the U.S.-Mexico Border I live in the arid Sonora Desert of the State of Arizona in the southwestern USA. Arizona is one of four states on the U.S.-Mexico border, which stretches nearly 2,000 miles. The other three states are California, New Mexico, and Texas. For nearly forty years, I lived in Texas. From the Gulf of Mexico this U.S.-Mexico border extends west to the... Read more
