On the 15th hole today in the third round of the PGA Tour’s BMW Championship, a golf fan came inside the ropes and tossed a remote-control golf ball onto the green. Superstar Rory McIlroy was standing on the green watching the escapade. After the ball stopped near the hole, Rory walked over near the ball. The fan then operated his hand-held remote, causing the ball to begin rolling again, this time near the hole. Rory walked over near the ball,... Read more

Dale Douglass died last month at the age of 86. During my PGA Tour career, Dale was Douglass about the nicest guy on the Tour. I’d say it was a toss-up between Dale and Al Geiberger, with maybe Gene Littler close behind. Never a bad word was ever said about these three pros, and all of them were outstanding players. Dale Douglass was well liked and respected by his peers and fans. And he sometimes served on the PGA Tour’s... Read more

Monday last week, the FBI was supported by a federal subpoena when it searched Donald Trump’s premises at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and removed several boxes of what have been reported to include secret, government documents that the ex-president was unauthorized to have and take when he departed the White House. It is being further reported that these docs may contain sensitive information about nuclear weapons, whether those of the U.S., or other nations, or both. The Department of... Read more

Former Vice President Mike Pence spoke at a political event in New Hampshire today in which he responded for the first time to the question of whether he would testify before the select committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot. The committee has held eight public hearing so far which were televised, and these hearings succeeded in providing much information to the public about that horrendous event which threatened our democracy. And the committee plans to resume these hearings shortly.... Read more

After knocking on the door all year, young sensation Will Zalatoris finally squeezed through the doorway minutes ago to win his first PGA Tour tournament–the FedEx St. Jude Championship at Southwind TPC in Memphis, Tennessee. But, like all those close calls this past year, in which he kept losing by one stroke in four runner-ups, it wasn’t easy. Will Zalatoris and Sepp Strack tied for 72 holes of regulation play this afternoon with 15 under par totals of 265. Zalatoris... Read more

Lots of players on the PGA Tour now spot line. When I first saw Justin Rose standing behind his ball on an iron shot to the green, holding his club up, and looking at his target and his club shaft, perhaps with one eye closed, I wondered what he was doing. Was there something wrong with his eye? Or was he trying to see if his golf shaft was straight or bent? [I played with Arnold Palmer at Tucson one... Read more

When I saw that Deane Beman was interviewed this week about the disruptive LIV Golf Invitational series that is competing with especially the PGA Tour by stealing its players, I thought there is no one associated with the PGA Tour who I would rather read on this subject than him. Beman played the Tour when I did, thus we were paired together a few times. But Deane started his pro golf career late and ended it rather early by becoming... Read more

Former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney has a new ad that attacks former Republican President Donald Trump. The ad supports the election of Cheney’s daughter, Mrs. Liz Cheney, who is a U.S. Representative from Wyoming. She is in a race to keep her House seat in the Republican primary. She is expected to lose because Wyoming is an extremely red state with a low population. In fact, 70% of Wyoming voters voted for Republican Donald Trump in 2020. Liz Cheney... Read more

The House select committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot adjourned its televised hearings last month with plans to continue them this fall as more and more people come forward to testify what happened that day, especially as it regards possible criminal liability of former President Donald Trump and his closest allies and members of his administration. In the meantime, Washington D.C. courts continue to try the hundreds of Capitol rioters. One just got a big prison sentence. All of... Read more

On June 24th, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in its ruling of Dobbs v. Jackson. Roe v. Wade had ruled that the Constitution provided that a woman had a legal right to an abortion. This had been a federal law for 49 years. But this Court ruled the opposite, claiming the Constitution does not allow a woman the legal right to an abortion. So, this new ruling reinvigorated the abortion fight and sent it back to individual states... Read more
