This was a terrific week for Catholic news watchers! From Pope Francis’ journey to the Philippines (and yes, “bunny-gate” to) to the March for Life, there was so much to view, engage in, and discuss. I have to say that one of my favorite bits of news was the announcement of Blessed Junipero Serra’s upcoming canonization, which will shine a beautiful light on California’s Missions.

Another thing I loved this week was watching Catholic social media tell the stories of these events. While we have great Catholic news sources, it’s just so wonderful to have a firsthand view from “people from the pew” who are actually on the ground and sharing the stories from their perspectives. For example, since I couldn’t be in Washington D.C. for the March for Life, I spent a great deal of time watching #WhyWeMarch and #MarchForLife2015 trend on Twitter. It’s a great reminder that when we have the opportunity to be present at such occasions, we should use the official event hashtag to let our voices be heard.

A quick reminder that I depart tomorrow for my trip to Tanzania. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram with #CRSMedia to come along for the adventure!
