Living in the Tension – Open Mic Night – 4/21

Living in the Tension – Open Mic Night – 4/21 April 10, 2014

For our upcoming Living in the Tension gathering on April 21st, we will be changing it up a bit with an open mic format for the night. We’re looking to have individuals share about or perform something that they created or share something creative they have come across that resonated with them related to content that we regularly discuss.

You may wish to create something around gender, communicating about something like being a woman in the church. Or you may want to create something focusing on your faith or lack thereof. Whether LGBT or heterosexual, you may want to create something about sexuality and relationships. Or maybe conflict with a friend or faith community is on your heart and a piece of lament or of hope for what could be would be appropriate. Feel free to share through whatever creative medium you personally connect with whether it’s poetry, spoken word, music, photography, drawing, comedy, or something else.

If you would prefer to share something that you have come across and resonated with and explain why you connected with it personally, we do not have a good internet connection where we will be meeting but we can upload something like a YouTube video if you send the link to kevin@themarinfoundation.org ahead of time. While we would love to have you share something creative that is meaningful to you, please feel free to attend the night even if you would just like to watch and support others.

We will be meeting in Room 124 at 7pm on 5255 N Ashland Avenue. If you’re available beforehand, we will be gathering at Jerry’s Sandwiches on 5419 N Clark St. to hang out and grab a bite to eat.

We hope to see you there!

Much love.
