A few hours ago the ruling of “not guilty” by a six-women jury permeated the now infamous courtroom in Stanford, Florida, as George Zimmerman will not serve any jail time for killing unarmed African-American teenager Trayvon Martin. Twitter is blowing up. I had to shut it off. So much heartache as well as so many crazy blasphemous 140 character statements, and nothing anyone can do about them. I pray for peace tonight and the coming days for forthcoming protests sure... Read more

Dear Friends, It is with great excitement, and some trepidation, that I want to share an exciting change here at The Marin Foundation. My wife Brenda and I, along with the Foundation team about a year ago, began discussing the requests and needs we were receiving from our friends across the pond (the United Kingdom) and throughout Europe. As my involvement with the United Nations has increased over the past three years there were many organizations, people, institutions and... Read more

The following post is from Brent Bailey, a Master of Divinity student at Abilene Christian University. Brent is interning with us at The Marin Foundation this summer, and you can find his blog at oddmanout.net.   How effective is it when someone tells you not to feel the way you feel? Let’s take some easy examples: When someone prefaces a statement with a hesitant request, “Don’t be mad, but…” does it effectively prevent you from feeling angry at what follows? When someone... Read more

I first started blogging September 13, 2008. This was the first post I ever wrote. My blog was originally hosted on Blogger from 2008-2009, then on my own hosted site from 2010-2012. Since 2013 it has been hosted here at Patheos. Note that I linked all of the posts to my current Patheos blog, which is why all of the pre-2013 posts have little to no “Shares.” I will periodically update this list, whenever there is a shift in rankings, or... Read more

The following post comes from the anonymous blogger behind The Registered Runaway, a gay man navigating his way through faith, sexuality and inner peace. By the time I was literate, I had the entire Left Behind kid series stacked on my shelf. The books, for those that don’t know, are futuristic stories of when God raptures Christians up to heaven, leaving behind the skeptical and non-believers to survive the apocalypse and, the Anti-Christ, and then- if they aren’t lucky- hell. I... Read more
