The Coalition for Responsible Home Education is holding a fund drive for the month of December. I highly recommend making a donation, if you are able. All donations are tax deductible, and the organization is offering a variety of incentives.

When I first started blogging over three years ago, I had no idea that I would become a part of a homeschool alumni reform movement. Since that date, homeschool alumni have come together to create both Homeschool Alumni Reaching Out (HARO) and the Coalition for Responsible Home Education (CRHE). These organizations call attention to two problems: the way homeschooling can help abusive parents conceal their abuse, and the educational neglect that occurs in some homeschooling families.

It’s exciting to see homeschool alumni come together like this!

For more of what I’ve written on homeschooling, including both my own experience and some of the problems HARO and CRHE are working to address, see the articles listed under my homeschooling tab. For those confused by the existence of not one but two groups founded by homeschool alumni, HARO focuses on alumni support and raising awareness while CRHE focuses on research and policy advocacy.
